Germanic heritage of Germans (19%-40%) is similar to Turkic heritage of Turks (20%-40%). Funnily enough I dont see much global obsession with Germans DNA as opposed to the Turks.
~90% of German ancestry comes from the Iron Age populations of Germany, which includes pre-Germanic Celts. This increases to >95% when you model them with Early Medieval Germans. Their remaining ancestry comes from neighboring Medieval Balts or Slavs (the % varies by region).

@Peter_Nimitz Yes. A similar point was made by Tadao Umesao who proposed that Japan and Western Europe developed because they were far from the "Dry Area" which was prone to conquests and invasions but at the same time close to the classical civilizations to copy them.

@Peter_Nimitz -Hunnic cavalry can't reach the swamps where the Slavs live.-All the Germanics in the plains and hills are raided/conquered, Eastern Germanics flee westwards.-200 years later almost the entirety of Eastern Europe is Slavic.

So why is @cremieuxrecueil whining about Turkey "testing its fifth graders" when the age matters more and Norway did the same thing anyway?.4th grade average age for Turkey was 10.9.4th grade average age for Norway was 10.8.Norway is 10% at advanced benchmark and Turkey is 24%.
The country of Turkey really wanted to stand out for its high-performing schools, so when every other country tested their fourth graders in mathematics, Turkey tested its fifth graders, crushed the fourth-graders, and proclaimed 'We surpassed ALL OF EUROPE'.

@sharghzadeh There is already an article about this and it's wrong. Ottomans were aware of their Central Asian heritage and identified as Turks.

@SyroJaziran Similarly the Qizilbash leaders considered Persian to be a "soft" and "sweet" language used by women in poetry whereas Turkish was more masculine and was suitable for men and warriors, so it was the language of Shahs and Emirs.

>Original.>Persian.Literally any Turkic language is more native to Central Asian than Persian is. Tajiks are just Sogdians that picked up Persian, their original language is Yaghnobi.
⚡️BREAKING . Tajikistan has banned Turkic and Soviet names and started renaming villages with their original Persian names

@sapphiregnm A large chunk of the Yellow River heritage comes from Liao culture which was probably an ancestral culture of Korean and Japanese cultures

@sharghzadeh "or the Iranian history of Azerbaijan to an Azeri,".It's the opposite, even the "secular" Persians who hate Iran hate Azerbaijan more and claim how AZARIs are a part of Eyeron for 90000 years. They also spawn in Armenian threads and say "saaar we support you saaaar" to Armenians.

@cremieuxrecueil "They only sample elite schools".What the flying fuck are you on about? Only 81% of the 8th graders reached low benchmark meaning 19% of the kids are literally mathematically illiterate. They tested equally hence the disproportionate numbers.
Because of this and the fact that they also only sample elite schools and totally fail to meet the sampling frame, when I make a post on this test later today, I will be removing Turkey from the picture. Their educational policymakers are just too dishonest.

I remember encountering a post about a Frenchman encountering 6 or 8 Turkmens and among them there was a woman who carried a quiver. When he asked about it he was told how there were 30,000 female warriors in one of the 15th century Turkish states.
The Mughal tradition was to use Tartar, Uzbek, and Georgian women both to carry palanquins and to stand sentry at night in the harem. Bernier relates a story of an Uzbek female warrior single-handedly defeating a small contingent of Mughals.

If Greek accounts are to be believed, the Ottomans were also involved in human sacrifice. Murad II bought 600 slaves and offered them up a sacrifice to his father.
Difference between Xiongnu and Gokturk beliefs.Xiongnu: Most likely polytheist, human sacrifice, worship of celestial objects.Gokturks: Worships only one Tengri, sacrifices animals to Tengri, veneration of natural elements

The Arabic word for plane is similarly Arabic in origin, but it was borrowed from Ottoman Turkish where the term was first coined.
The word "republic" in Arabic languages is Arabic in origin, but it was first used in Ottoman Turkish. Reminds me of how some Meiji-era Japanese loanwords are Sinitic in origin but used in other East Asian languages as well.

The are 2 differences between Japanese soft power and Korean soft power.1- Japanese soft power is directed at men, Korean soft power is directed at women.2- Japanese soft power is older than Korean soft power which is like 14 years old or something.
anime has done crazy things for japan, there are so many cracked white dudes who speak excellent japanese *and* are world class at what they do. don’t think there’s a single one of these people in korea, at least in technical fields

While science is cumulative, none of the places other than Western Europe and North America achieved "the Great Divergence" until the 19th century. So yes Western Europe is cradle of modern science.
Much of Europe's scientific 'renaissance' was built on knowledge from Muslim, Indian, and Chinese civilizations. They preserved, innovated, and excelled while Europe was in the Dark Ages. So why do textbooks still frame Europe as the sole cradle of modern science?

@Tom_Rowsell They were enslaved by Finns.
Only Indians and Iranians are impressed by Aryans. OG Aryans were enslaved by Proto-Finno-Permics, if anything, being Finnish should be the mark of a superior person.

@ghostofhellas Influence of Turkish culture otherwise Byzantines hated cats.
Claude Farrere who visited the Ottoman Empire stated that the cats of Istanbul in the Turkish/Muslim quarters were friendly and not afraid of humans whereas cats that lived in Christian quarters were afraid of humans because "Eastern Christians were cruel towards anything weak"

This coal poster is actually right btw this was already proven in a study this is only denied by communists whose ideology collapsed in 1991 and should no longer be taken seriously
Reminder that the "Russian Empire was backward and not industrialized" meme is pure Marxist propaganda. In reality, the late Russian Empire was industrializing at a much faster rate than the Soviet Union in the 1920s.

Ottoman Empire for comparison:
Russia had a population of 15 million in 1717, 44 million in 1817 and 154 million in 1917 when infant mortality was high. One Russian woman is known to have given birth to 69 children. (Russian population pyramid in 1927, steeper than any Afreakan country today)

@avrilbradley23 Found it! According to Tadao Umesao, Tokugawa Shogunate got behind the UK because it adopted the policy of external isolation. Without this, Tokugawa Japan would have achieved the Industrial Revolution at about the same time as the UK.

Reddit'te bunların kümelendikleri subredditler var btw. Bir tane Kıpti Mısırlı aylarca sırf bunun üstüne yazmıştı en son gördüğümde artık nasıl bir yangınsa.
I have seen people from Ethiopia, Spain, Portugal, China, South Korea, the US, Greece, Armenia, Romania, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus telling us how we are genetically not Turkic and not Turks. Turkishness causes global seethe and butthurt.
