Aberdeen and Hibernian fans should be aware that there will be a minute's applause during the 8th minute of Saturday's match at Pittodrie in support of manager Steven Gerrard.
Andy Murray just won a match at 3am against a guy who hit three dozen more winners than him. Pure grind. Returned to his chair and wept into a towel for 2 minutes, before acknowledging the fans that still remained. Signed every autograph request before heading down the tunnel. 👏
Since Angus MacDonald came on at 3-0 down at home to Motherwell on Valentine's Day, he has partnered Stefan Gartenmann for appoximately 750 minutes of Premiership football, during which time Aberdeen have only conceded 5 goals - 3 of which were pens neither player conceded.

Dressing Shay Logan in a Scott Brown shirt for his stagger later backfired after he failed to get on his flight as the staff refused to give him a booking.
In these tough times for Dandies (& for Aberdeen in general) a wee reminder that for a period of 4 days (between 12-16 May 1984) Aberdeen FC held the Scottish Premier League title, Scottish Cup, European Cup Winners' Cup and European Super Cup simultaneously.
You're welcome.

In 2023, Goodwin managed sides that were beaten/knocked out by lower league opposition in 4 (FOUR) separate competitions in the same calendar year.
Plus a relegation.
Five goals this afternoon;
Fourth win this season;
Three league points;
Two more Cosgrove goals;
One Hedges howitzer;
No disabled sections broken.

Keskinen will get the deserved plaudits for that exceptional turn and finish - but once again, Nilsen producing a killer first-touch pass that exposed the back line before they could adjust.
Scandilous.
Since it's a bye-week for the Michigan Wolverines, a reminder that Aberdeen's own
@DavidOjabo
is currently T-20th in sacks and T-8th in forced fumbles in all of College Football.

Looking back on that Ester Sokler goal. He's hit it from the edge of the box, cleared the 6'2'' goalie - at full stretch - and still managed to dip it under the bar.
Unstoppable.
Seems like an appropriate time to consider Scotland's greatest sportspeople.
Andy Murray's probably my personal number one, but the conversation has to include the likes of Ken Buchanan, Jim Clark, Kenny Dalglish, Chris Hoy, Denis Law, Liz McColgan & Jackie Stewart.
Who else?
▪️ Second best throughout
▪️ Identifying areas for improvement
▪️ A chance to bounce back quickly

Manager Jim Goodwin analyses our

Cup defeat at The Falkirk Stadium 👇
Think Ester Sokler was very unlucky to be ruled offside yesterday.
Would've been his 5th of the season - and the way in which he finished it would have been so good for his confidence.
Unless we unearth another gem this transfer window, I hope he gets a prolonged run up front.
Qarabağ is where Aberdeen ultimately aspire to be - a 'Top 100' club regularly qualifying for European Group Stages and playing quality football in the process. The only question that matters right now is how do we get from here to there?
🗣️ 'We have to try and crack Goliath...'
Aberdeen "will have to play their worst game ever" if NSI Runavik are to have any chance of progressing in the Europa League, says head coach Glenn Stahl.

What a difference he's made this season - in what has been a successful summer transfer window, he might have been the most important acquisition.
Is it too early to say he has surpassed Ilian Kiriakov and Tsanko Tsvetanov as Aberdeen's best Bulgarian?! 🇧🇬 🇧🇬 🇧🇬
Aberdeen now have three of the most promising young Scottish midfielders (Messrs Campbell, Ferguson & McCrorie) contracted for a combined 10 years.
They won't play all the time (yet) however the club should have that eventual midfield 3 in mind in it's long term strategy.
Considering Scott McKenna is under contract for four more seasons, Aberdeen should only sell if a club meets their valuation of the player and (preferably) a replacement CB can be obtained before the transfer deadline. Otherwise, we move on to Rijeka.
If your The Spartans, coming out from your half-time team-talk, only to immediately watch Ruby swing an inch-perfect cross for the smallest player on the park to head home, you just know it's not going to be your night.
The last Scottish club lineup to come back from 0-2 down to avoid defeat at Celtic Park has a few familiar faces - not least the one common denominator.
An Aberdeen "bringing the band back together" XI:
Danny Ward
Ross McCrorie
Max Lowe
Ylber Ramadani
Scott McKenna
Stefan Gartenmann (humour me)
Kenny McLean
Lewis Ferguson
Bojan Miovski
James Maddison
Ryan Christie

A gutting a way to lose, but to have played 100 minutes in a game we realistically had to win and not even have a shot on target is just wild.
Bluntly, Scotland not good enough.
If part-time Arbroath were to gain promotion to the Premiership, where would folk rank that in terms of all-time single-season achievements in Scottish fitba? It would have to be right up there.
Baldwin is actually the player who was late to the challenge & contact is made after the ball has already been played by Shinnie. He is not out of control; nor does he have the ability to change the laws of physics.
Unfortunate that probably the three most likeable players in the England squad were the ones that didn't score their penalties. Marcus Rashford in particular is an inspiring role model. Genuinely concerned for the kind of abuse they may receive.
Killie just lost 4-2 tonight, which means 3 points from Aberdeen's last 2 games - Rangers A on Friday and Celtic H on Monday - and they win the CAS U18 Elite League.
Would be great to reward the Young Dons by hosting that last match at Pittodrie...
Our U18s kept their league challenge alive this evening with another brilliant comeback win to defeat Celtic 3-2.
Fraser Mackie, Alfie Bavidge and Fletcher Boyd grabbed the goals at Cormack Park. Match report ⤵

Arguably, Aberdeen's best goalkeeper in a generation - those of us who were witness to his Murrayfield miracles will a'ways mind!
A gentleman and one of the good guys - wish him all the best for the future.
Joe Lewis has officially announced his retirement from football.
A fantastic player and ambassador for our club.
Good luck for the future

Miko Virtanen, the best defensive midfielder in the Championship at 20 years old.

Tackles per 90: 2.1 (1st)
Tackles per opp. 30 possessions: 2.74 (2nd)

There are different ways to win a game, and that one was dug out against a spirited home performance.
TWELVE wins on the bounce, EIGHTEEN points out of eighteen. An amazing run continues.
With the Celtic game now out of the way, is the path now clear for Liam Scales to return to Pittodrie?
Also, Mattie Pollock is still to see a single minute of competitive fitba for Watford so far this season - take him home, Merkland Road...
Thinking back, it's incredible that Aberdeen could attract a player like Gillhaus. Bought by PSV after selling Ruud Gullit(!); won the European Cup there before losing his place to Romário(!!); went on to start alongside Marco van Basten with the Netherlands at Italia '90(!!!)
Next home game for Aberdeen is 27 October, same day as SWFL Division 1 – North winners Aberdeen FC Women play their last match. The Dons have a 12:15 ko so how about switching the Women's game from ASV to Pittodrie for a 3pm ko with trophy presentation after?
@AberdeenFC
Kris Boyd:
* Opines Shinnie & McLean aren't good enough for Scotland call-ups; combine to score opener at Rugby Park.
* Dares McKenna to shoot from 40yds; scores winner at Pittodrie.
Should Steve Clarke be warning him off such banter and its concomitant risks?

If you think I am going to get carried away just because the Dons had a couple of good results against clubs in the bottom half of the table then you are absolutely right.
I've done the maths on this one & if Aberdeen keeps this winning streak going for just nine more months, then this promises to be a silverware-ladened season for the Dons.
Nine straight wins in all competitions, first time since 1983.
Jimmy Thelin matches Davie Shaw’s club record by winning each of his first four league games in charge.
That Aberdeen squad 30 years ago:
Snelders, Watt, McKimmie, D Robertson, McLeish, Miller, Irvine, Bett, Cameron, Conner, Grant, C Robertson, Simpson, Mason, Jess, Gillhaus, Nicholas, Van Der Ark - with Stephen Wright and Scott Booth coming through the ranks.

at the end of the game & he made a great point about how good Ante Palaversa was & how we missed his influence after he went off. Impressive range of passing, read the game well & contributed to the high tempo of the attacking play.

Of St Johnstone's starting XI in both cup wins, 4 - Clark, Kane, Kerr & McCann - came through their youth system (not to mention their manager) while Liam Gordon & David Wotherspoon are both boyhood Perth Saints.
A lot to be said for being the best 'Community Club' you can be.
Local loon, parlayed what ability he had into over 300 appearances for the Dons and over 50 goals - it's hardly his fault if the club failed to bring in better strikers during his 15 year tenure.
Listening to Sportsound on the way home, I found it interesting that Kenny Macintyre unconsciously referred to James Tavernier scoring "the" Rangers penalty this evening.
Just like there is not "a" kick-off, or "a" full-time whistle; "the" Rangers penalty is an inevitability.
The correct decision, but unfortunately one that does absolutely nothing for an Aberdeen team that lost to a single goal by a player that should not have been on the pitch.
I presume Scott Brown will be offering an apology to other Scottish clubs for his team getting knocked out of Champions League qualification by lower-ranked opposition in Europe last night.
