Despite the immense personal loss, his family made an extraordinary decision to donate his organs and corneas, giving hope to patients suffering from organ failure. Dr Vinay Rathore said this marks the 6th multi-organ donation and 11th deceased donor kidney transplant at AIIMS-R.

World Cancer Day is observed globally on Feb 4 each year to raise awareness about cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. The theme for 2025, “United by Unique” highlights the importance of people-centere care, recognizing that every individual’s cancer journey is distinct.

The conference saw participation from eminent faculty members of premier institutes, including those from various AIIMS, JIPMER, PGI, and KGMU, who contributed to interactive sessions, panel discussions, and workshops focused on advancements in anesthesia and critical care.

The successful acquisition of these facilities was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Prof. (Dr.) Sajal De, Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine along with Dr. Ajay Behera and Dr. Dibakar Sahu, both Additional Professors in the department.

Prof (Dr) Eli Mohapatra, HoD Biochem. and the Organising Chairperson stressed the role of clinicians, and how the approach should be in optimizing the implementation of newer modes of identification of diseases among different population groups in diverse healthcare settings.

The session aimed to educate the public about leprosy, promote early diagnosis and treatment and address the stigma and discrimination associated with the disease.

The celebration featured a vibrant parade by security guards and the distribution of food packets to TB patients under the "Kushtha Unmulan Program," and also the awards were presented for Best performers ICUs and Wards by the management.
