Drones improve our ability to detect post-fire recovery in shrublands, especially for the important grassy component of these ecosystems. Powerful tool when combined with ground surveys (and it is fun too)! @JasperSlingsby @BioSciUCT @UCT_Research

Such a cool explanation of a decade-old puzzle in the CFR. Male and female restios differ in water use efficiency due to phenology, not physiology. Males get a head start, growing when hot and dry, to be ready with pollen when females mature. @skelrob

Should it be renamed the "fynroot" biome? Our new paper in PNAS, led by Mingzhen Lu, shows that the fynbos keeps out the forest by having the thinnest roots in the world. @jasperslingsby @UCT_Research @skelrob @mingzhen_lu

Our paper on plasticity vs conservatism of fynbos and renosterveld shrublands to rainfall seasonality is just out. Product of collaboration with @NCCEnviron @DrieKuilen @ACCESSCOE and years of hard work from PhD student Justin van Blerk 👏👏👏 @ResAltwegg

What a great video. Well worth 6mins of your time. Are #grasshuggers a thing yet? They should be.
