Agreed. For whales, ENGO’s that SHOULD advocate for endangered species, like the NARW, have instead heavily advocated for the #BigOffshoreWind agenda. We are hopeful that a new administration may inspire these organizations to do what they claim they do. @saveLBIorg @SaveNARW @GreenOceansRI @SaveNARW

Did everyone else understand that Non Governmental Organizations, ie, NGOs, receive most if not all of their funding from the government, or was I just being ignorant? If NGOs receive most if not all of their funding from the government, what is the basis for calling them non-governmental? The answer according to Google is that an NGO is non-governmental because it operates without governmental control and oversight even though it receives government funding. Why is it beneficial for there to be non-profit organizations, that is NGOs, that receive all or substantially all of their funding from our government, but don’t have any government oversight or control? Non-profits are not known for having good governance. The combination of funding without oversight and control creates the opportunity for fraud, waste and abuse that we have seen in some of the USAID grants that have been made public in the last week or so. In the private markets, that is the real world, a majority shareholder would have control and oversight. Why do we allow our government to make majority investments without control and oversight? It makes no sense. It is time we scrutinize all NGOs and reconsider investing taxpayer money in private organizations without proper oversight and control consistent with what a majority investor would expect in a private corporation.

As per WSJ 2/7: “Note how it’s always the developers that give up on these projects and never the state, despite the awful prospects for ratepayers. Gov. Murphy has treated renewable energy as a sacred cause no matter the costs since 2018. That includes a bill he signed to let Ørsted pocket federal credits it had promised to pass on to customers, though he clawed money back when the projects died.”

We keep hearing the “Good Neighbor Agreement” Nantucket has w/ VW “gives us a seat at the table”. Which table is that? Neither BSEE nor VW has given us info re: damaged blades, yet they’re taking them ALL down while continuing to build.⁦⁦⁦

What needs to be communicated to the public is that offshore wind is NOT green, NOT clean & the government’s own documents state it won’t move the needle on climate change. It is expensive, poses severe national security & search and rescue risks. It’s a shame so many U.S. tax dollars have been spent on these projects that should never have been permitted in the first place.

Isn’t the @SierraClub supposed to be concerned about #whales? Seems the non-profit is more concerned about job loss from a failing wind industry. They have lost their way. Why is Sierra not leading the charge against the industrialization of our ocean from #BigWind? They are quite selective about their enemies…& ignoring the “elephant (Turbine) in the room”. Seems rather disingenuous. @GreenOceansRI @saveLBIorg @njcoast_protect

N.J. kills bid for more offshore wind plans, says now’s not the right time         By Steven Rodas | NJ Advance Media for         Updated: Feb. 03, 2025, 3:08 p.m. Published: Feb. 03, 2025, 2:50 p.m. A weighty reversal for New Jersey’s offshore wind future came on two fronts Monday. Days after oil and gas giant Shell backed out of New Jersey’s first offshore wind farm pointing to financial reasons, the state on Monday did not award any bids for a fourth round of solicitations and didn’t approve Atlantic Shores’ revised plan to build its wind project between roughly 8.7 to 20 miles off the coast. That ostensibly kills the prospect of a 200-wind turbine project once slated to be constructed off the state’s shores because the developer needed the re-bid approval to move ahead.

More tough news for #BigOffshoreWind. Without our government spending your tax dollars to fund foreign energy Wind developers, these projects don’t happen. Case in point is Denmark, a huge exporter of offshore wind admitting that hard truth. @njcoast_protect @SaveNARW @saveLBIorg @GreenOceansRI

In case you were wondering, #OffshoreWind doesn’t work without subsidies. Don’t believe me? Ask Denmark, where they first started. @POTUS is right. #ItsAScam @DougBurgum @DOGE “Denmark will halt all ongoing offshore wind tenders as the existing framework where no subsidies are offered does not work under current market conditions, its energy minister said on Friday. The global offshore wind industry has been hit by surging costs, rising interest rates and supply chain bottlenecks. Denmark said in December that its latest tender for wind at sea had failed to attract any bids. The government will now start preparations to launch a new offshore wind tender this year with a capacity of two to three gigawatts (GW), where state subsidies might be offered, energy minister Lars Aagaard told a press conference. "Our assessment right now is that we might be required to support offshore wind. It's not because we're happy about it, but it's necessary," Aagaard said.

Victory! Shell abandons whale-killing wind project & writes off $1 billion. Another company abandons $250 million plant to make subsea cables that would have wrecked the sea floor. And a wind project in Maine is on the ropes. The fight's not over so please share the truth!

Similarly, there is no science supporting the claim that noise from turbine construction & operation is NOT harming whales. It’s a shame that your organization is not supporting the thesis that there is a very high correlation between whale deaths & offshore wind survey/construction work. Too many orgs have taken money from #BigWind and are now potentially compromised & not demanding that proper studies be conducted nor advocating for whales as their missions proclaim.

Wow! Why would the Town of Nantucket post this important response only on its own website last week & not share it with the press or message it to the public? Especially when the people want the Town to get tough on this issue? Odd. @saveLBIorg @njcoast_protect @SaveNARW @GreenOceansRI
