here is a very intense thing i witnessed yesterday morning out on long island: a pomarine jaeger, a seabird whose presence on land is usually very rare, devouring a common tern chick whole while adult common terns screamed and dive-bombed it

learned that some people in letterboxd’s experimental film scene lie about what they log. heard rumblings about this but it was confirmed when, throughout the year, people who didn’t live in chicago would log things i programmed (i handle doors and there aren’t many people lol).

coolest thing i saw on the bird boat wasn't a bird, it was several north atlantic right whales. a critically endangered species of which there are less than 400 remaining. by far the rarest species i have ever observed in the wild. a truly surreal and emotional experience.
