Many of us suffer from the wonderful disease that is Tsundoku. The desire to read books, the ability to buy them, and the time to read them are seldom in sync. But I would always prefer to have a library that has more books that are still unread, than those already read by me.
I read more books during days of less money in pocket. Used to spend lot of time in book shops before buying one. Now I have enough to buy books. No time to read 😑

The remarks by the candidate are in extremely poor taste. They are contrary to the ethos of the uniform that places selfless sacrifice as the supreme virtue. They also violate the values of our ancient civilization to show respect for the deceased. Simply not done.
