We have lots of systems to protect the rich from accountability. The Trump conviction shows how putting cases in front of a jury can cut through that BS. It's time for more DAs to prosecute the powerful, including corporations, for their criminality.

We sometimes forget that really good advocacy means really good defense. Defense never gets the glory that offensive wins do, but the ability to fight against bad/harmful legislation is an essential part of making and protecting change.

Begs the question of what exactly probation & parole are for??! And who/what exactly do these practices serve??!! We need to radically rethink both - so they actually support people, communities & public safety. Or find a better way altogether.

~1/3 of people on probation or parole with a mental health disorder can't access help. >2/3 of people with addictions report that they need treatment and aren’t getting it. Community supervision isn’t helping people get healthcare.

GQR did a one-of-a-kind exit survey of ~800 Chicago voters and asked how they voted on crime and safety. The message is clear: people want solutions to prevent crime before it happens, not more of the failed “tough on crime” rhetoric of the status quo.

Vera Action commissioned an election eve survey in Chicago that found crime is a very serious or somewhat serious problem for 95% of voters.
