A rare but necessary look back to capture the 2023 highlight reel:

It took me 5 years to get to $1M ARR first time around. This time, it took me 6 months.
But you better believe I wasted nothing from those first five. Well ten, really.
The most productive part of my agency-life learnings was what NOT to do. And my next 5 years spent building
It’s here, folks! 🥁🥁🥁
Your full-stack, freaky fast content subscription has officially arrived.

We’ve learned a ton over our first 9 months of life, and if
Core values are usually done wrong.
Forgotten words on a wall and nothing else.
Core values done right are behaviors not words.
Establishing values is a critical component to the vision for every company I've built, and now again as we build the foundation for
@storyarb

Why?
My first startup: Built a 7-figure high-touch B2B agency.
50ish clients.
0% churn (no cap).
80% ARR.
$136K LTV
Healthy +30% net margins.
Limited blue sky.
Super tough to scale.
Sold book to another small agency.
My second startup: Spun agency into a self-service B2B SaaS
I’m a CEO (and mom) with a dangerously toxic trait.
I’m a skimmer. My eyes glaze over if something isn’t a quick para or two read. (School take-home folders are the worst.)
So when I tell you I read a 22-page playbook cover-to-cover *multiple times* you might want to lean in.
I just saved
@storyarb
$12,120 of waste quicker than it took me to tell y'all.
How, you ask?! 🙂
My favorite quarterly sweep: the tech stack review.
Or as I not-so-lovingly refer to it: "the over stack" review.
1. Once a quarter, review those SaaS fees.
2. See how many
This post is live case study on why storyarb exists. Here’s what’s crazy …
It ushered +$5M new opps onto our waiting list.
My prediction: personal social feeds will become 2024’s most powerful B2B tofu drip campaign.

3 words: product-market fit.

That’s a strong PMF signal right there.

Everyone says focus is the key to building a great startup.
But in the early days that’s simply not realistic.
When you’re the CEO, Ops, Legal, and Sales shifting focus becomes an essential skill to master.
My typical day running a 6-figure agency:
Rev ops.
Client relations.
People love to portray successful execs as narcissistic, two-faced jerks.
And sure, that's true some of the time.
But here’s my current reality.
This past month has granted me the opportunity to chat with several insanely talented and successful executives at storyarb.
The
A client’s Twitter post about their niche led to a $12MM investment opportunity.
Current muse: Seeing our writers transform execs’ stories into a living breathing sales funnel for their business.

& here's the thing ya'll need to know about effective leadership teams ...
Alignment.
Have it, and will change the trajectory of your company.
Don't have it, and will crush the trajectory of your company.
It's that simple, and
How to lose a team in 12 months:
1/ Discriminate against their basic human rights to bear children.
2/ Disparage them often in front of others.
3/ Bad mouth your business partners to employees and clients.
4/ Take sole credit for any and all wins.
5/ Blame any and all losses
My new team will never be as good as my old team.
That’s the lie I sold myself.
I was so fortunate to build a team of incredibly strong, powerful, agile humans at my last startup.
A special one-of-a-kind thing. Luck.
And building something like that again felt…impossible. At

2. A testament to the power of a personal *trusted* brand (hey

30 days ago, I had a crazy (and frankly, unreasonable) idea.
I messaged my cofounder saying:
“What if we create a digital content festival that doesn’t suck ass?”
“And what if the festival has seasons, each one focused on a different type of content?”
“And what if we
I spend an ungodly amount of time talking to heads of marketing.
Here are the 5 challenges they repeat to me over and over. And over:
1. Content Overwhelm: They need more content, better content, faster content. 83% rank it as a top priority, but keeping up with strategy +
I don't hire women.
I don't hire females.
I hire the best person for the job.
Brightest mind, biggest energy, kindest heart, force-of-nature kind of folks.
It just so happens that many, maybe even the majority of these individuals, ARE women.
Why is that?
I've been thinking
Entrepreneurial empty-nesting was far different than I thought.
What I thought:
Work out every morning.
Patio-hop with old friends.
Organize all the closets and cabinets.
Cook dinner 5x per week.
Make it to all the kids’ sports.
Be more present with my family.
Keep up with
I’ve struck luck with most of my biz partners.
But the ones who've taught me the most aren’t the typical ying to my yang.
They’re the ones who are just plain better than me. Sure, at the things I know are my weak points. That's obvious. But also at core things I considered
I never dreamt of starting a company.
Never had the itch to be my own boss, or employ a full team of people.
I know many entrepreneurs' stories start out just the opposite ... dreaming of being their own boss and starting a company.
They don't know what problem they'll solve,
Your campaign isn’t the problem, your customer is.
I’ve seen it time and time again:
C-suite demanding flashy new campaigns to go with sales initiatives, and Marketing frantic to pull if off.
When results fall short, just throw more money at it.
But here’s the real problem —
Last impressions are a lost art.
But I’d argue they’re just as important as first impressions.
So often, servicing preaches a strong start to a client relationship. But they forget about the ending.
Which is why I create a “Before You Go” booklet for every single client at
We sent a million+ emails per quarter in my prior SaaS startup.

I meant to take a break. Be an entrepreneurial empty-nester for a minute. Find time to unwind, reflect, soul-search, sleep.
But when 0-1 is your oxygen, life doesn’t exist unless you’re creating.
So I’m here today admitting defeat: I can’t stop building.
The best part? I found
