Then, the CJ w/ your govts support declared birth certificate was not be accepted as enough proof for citizenship (birth right citizenship). The politics of inconsistent policy positions is what led your govt to opposition; ignoring the salient point for parochial interests. FOH

Trump moves against automatic birthright citizenship in the United States of America. What do you think? Is it not about time Africans go the opposite way? Automatic birthright for every African born in any member state of the African Union?

📝 During his trial, like Nkrumah in the 1948 Crossroads incident, Rawlings shielded his allies & took full responsibility. His courage inspired many, setting the stage for the June 4, 1979, coup that freed him & established him as a key leader in Ghana’s political transformation

On June 4, 1979, just before his execution, other soldiers broke him out of jail. This time, they succeeded in overthrowing the ruling Supreme Military Council (SMC II), led by General Fred Akuffo. Rawlings didn’t take power to rule forever. Instead, he said his mission was to "clean up" the system before returning Ghana to civilian rule. What happened next made Rawlings one of Ghana’s most controversial leaders.

Senegal's President Bassirou Faye says France should close all its military bases in Senegal. He said its incompatible with Senegal’s sovereignty. Chad has ended its military cooperation with France. Niger expelled 1,500 French troops in the country in 2023. France withdrew its 2,400 troops from its military base in Mali. Burkina Faso ended its military cooperation with France in January 2023.

Earlier today, I joined dignitaries and stakeholders in the transport sector, in Accra, to usher Ghana into a new era for public transportation, with the commissioning of Electric Buses for Public Transport. The introduction of the electric buses, fulfills our promise to introduce new measures to significantly cut down the cost of public transportation, which is part of our broader vision to bring down the cost of living. With the new buses powered through charging its electric system, and not through fuel, its operational cost will be reduced significantly, thus, also reducing the cost of public transport by 40% to 50%. This is a new era not only for government buses, but it also presents an opportunity to private-owned bus and trotro services, for cheaper operational cost, when we fully roll out the programme with electric charging spots across various places in Accra cities. As usual, the naysayers said it was not possible when we made the announcement, but we insisted that if other countries could deploy electric buses to make life easier for their citizens, why not Ghana. With a mindset of possibility, we will, together, make many things possible and transform our country. It is possible!
