Black Americans built financial systems to secure economic independence after emancipation. 🏦 From Freedman’s Bank (1865) to Maggie L. Walker’s St. Luke Penny Savings Bank (1903), Black-led institutions laid the foundation for financial inclusion ands their legacy lives on.
