@b3ll @Javi That seems like a bug in the app you're using rather than Mastodon. Web UI works the best so far

Mastodon seems pretty good now! You can follow me @marin@ruby.social The server (instance) you use for your first account doesn't matter - you can follow everyone and it's easy to migrate across servers.

@featherless You might be signing up on an overcrowded server. Find something smaller (or review needed) server and it should work pretty instantaneous

@Javi @b3ll Right, I thought his concern was exposing home network through 3rd party auth. I find tailscale unnecessary if you have a ~constant set of machines that doesn't change often. Does require a bit more than mouse clicks to set up tho
