Pulses are sustainable, affordable, nutritious and delicious. Here are some fun facts bought to you by our members, NPZ and Wherry & Sons Ltd for #WorldPulsesDay. 🫘 Field Beans (Fava Beans) are high in fibre and essential amino acids, as well as manganese, phosphorus, magnesium and iron. All essential minerals. 🌱 Pulses bring a flowering crop into the rotation to benefit pollinators on UK farmland. 💦 Water usage for 1kg of pulses requires around 50 litres of water, compared to 13,000 litres for beef. 🫘 Versatile shelf life (dry or canned) meaning they can be eaten for a long time and do not go off quickly

Yesterday, Defra secretary, Steve Reed set out a timeline for the Precision Breeding Act. A clear plan to introduce necessary secondary legislation, by the end of March, is positive news for the plant breeding industry. We look forward to seeing the benefits that this new technique will bring in the near future.
