The Valley of the Christians has a majority of Greek Orthodox Christians (Catholics as well, but a minority).
Al-Husn village (where Krak des Chevaliers is) is the only village in the Valleys that has a predominantly Sunni Muslim population.

So my dad's Levantine friend made an interesting point today about marriage in his time & marriage in the current age. In his time, (he's 67) when someone wanted to get married, everyone in the village would help the couple; help build the house,

Christians have been celebrating their Holy Days in the worse circumstances. During wars, genocides, in secret due persecution, in poor conditions etc. Even during the war in Syria; they would still make sure to come together to decorate the Christmas tree in the village.
