I found myself in the OR today & the attending-res duo asked if I wanted to intubate.
I OF COURSE SAID YES, but also admitted to being rusty.
(The last time Intubated someone was Oct '21)
Well today I successfully intubated a patient on the first try & had a blast!

One thing about my intern yr schedule that is getting to me during my current 5mo stretch of floors, is working 6 days a week in a specialty i did NOT choose.
Its becoming difficult to show up energetic for the day when its not my chosen specialty 🫠🫠

I Passed Step2!
Although it wasnt with the score I wanted, I am still proud as hell of my hard work!
This time last year I was heartbroken having to delay apps. This year I am stronger & better for it.

Intern year is strange
You dont quite yet feel like you’ve earned the doctor title but when you sit & think about how the hospital is running on your resident man power you really are a doctor.
The duality of the situation is just interesting.

But i am DETERMINED to put in 110% effort for the next 6months.
Leaving nothing undone or left to chance so I can look back at this time & proudly say “I did all I could do.”

Not happy the situation happened but thankful it happened with this attending.

I am on week 16 out of 18 straight weeks of floors & icu and I can confidently say I am NOT the same person.
Its unfortunate but I also have a true hatred towards medicine now.

Ive been SUPER nervous about being pregnant during CA1 yr BUT yesterday I found baby’s heartbeat with my stethoscope.

Then some of them would look at me in horror & disgust as they replied “I dont know…….I just flush” 😂😂😂

There were times I had 2-3 more patient than him to present & write notes on. He was able to read while on shift as I am still finishing work…It wasnt a problem then.
The nerve of this man to ask me to take an extra patient bc he had ONE more note to write than me is WILD.

My mom shared a story about how she had a superior say that her talking with her hands was disrespectful.
Luckily, she had the wherewithal to inform this person that talking with her hands was of cultural origin & that she would report this person bc of it.
