It was a real moment. I got so wrapped up in the process that I completely forgot how monumental it was.
5 years of auditioning and even for major black musicals, I’d never been greeted by a predominantly black panel.
Representation is about more than just viability on stage
We had open auditions for The Wiz yesterday.
One candidate got quite tearful as she entered the room and saw a panel in which she felt reflected.
6 out of 8 people on the panel were of African / Caribbean heritage.
