“I can't handle this! Why me?!”
Allah said: “We do not burden any person beyond his ability.” [Al-A’raf (7:42)]
Instead of questioning “why me?” one should say “Allah is testing me and has also blessed me with the means to overcome this test. Let me turn to Him.”
Shaykh Rabī' al-Madkhalī:
Search for a close friend who is a believer, someone who helps you obey Allāh, encourages you to do good and warns you against evil. A friend who you only attain goodness from.
(al-Majmū' al-Rā'iq, pg. 28)
Shaykh Rabī' al-Madkhalī:
Many people think that if they live in the Muslim lands, they will die starving, naked and in loss, thinking that they will only find happiness in the non-Muslim lands. I seek refuge in Allāh, this is from having evil thoughts of Allāh.
(Lubāb, pg. 62)
“I don't have time to study due to work/kids.”
Allah said: “O’ you who believe! Do not let your wealth or children divert you from the remembrance of Allah and whoever does that then they are the losers.” [Al-Munafiqun (63:9)]
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, the great companion, said:
"On the Day of Judgement, Allah will forgive in a way no human has ever imagined."
[Kitab al-Zuhd (no. 1364) of Ibn al-Mubarak]
The hijri ages of three of the major scholars:
92 – Shaykh Salih al-Luhaydan
91 – Shaykh Rabi’ al-Madkhali
89 – Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan
May Allah preserve them, grant them good health in their later years and allow us to continue benefitting from them.
Many a time, good friends start to see distance between themselves and at times even disputes and falling out.
This is from the ill effects of sins, and the best way to fix those broken relationships is to repent to Allah.
Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān:
Whoever has been negligent in the days of Ramaḍan that have passed then let him perform good actions in what remains of this month, for indeed the rewards of the deeds are decided by the final actions.
(Ramaḍan Reminder on 19 Ramaḍan 1437)
Last night, the mother of our brother Abu Anas passed away. Abu Anas is an important member of our community.
His mother was known as a caring mother and aunt to all.
Allah have mercy upon her, make her grave wide for her, enter her into Jannah and grant her family patience.
Shaykh Rabī' ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī:
By Allāh, if we were to recite the Qur'ān as it should be recited and adhered to what is in it, we would certainly be successful in this world and the next, however most of us turn away.
(Al-Ma'ṣiyyah wa Atharuhā pg. 15)
If someone was given a ‘love letter’ from their beloved they would read it repeatedly and even memorise parts of it. The Muslim has Allah's Speech and yet:
“…the Messenger will say: ‘My Lord! Indeed, my people abandoned the Qur’an.’” [Al-Furqan (25:30)]
We must do better.
Ahl al-Sunnah should always strive to put aside personal issues, because what unites them is their deen.
A well-needed reminder from Shaykh 'Ubayd, Allah have mercy upon him.
Around ½ a year has passed since last Ramaḍān.
• have we improved?
• have we sought more knowledge?
• have we finished the Qur’ān since?
• have we improved our relationship with our family?
• have we steadily increased in worship?
May Allāh allow us to reach Ramaḍān.
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Indeed, the iman of one of you wears out in your heart just as clothes become worn out so ask Allah to renew iman in your hearts.”
[Al-Mustadrak of al-Hakim (no. 5): sahih/al-Albani]
Abu Idrees (
@AbuIdrees
):
“Whatever trial you have, do not abandon the jama’ah or the masjid. Even if it happens that you take off the jilbab or shave the beard—I'm not saying to do that—but whatever situation you are in, come to the masjid.”
Tomorrow is the 1st of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic Calendar. The first ten days of this month are the best days of the year.
Take advantage by doing much good!
“I believe in Allah — why is this [bad thing] happening to me?!”
Allah said: “Do people think that they will be left alone because they say ‘we believe’ and will not be tested?” [Al-‘Ankabut (29:2)]
When the Imam recites the Qunūt in Witr, the one praying behind him should say "Āmīn" after the supplications. As for when he praises Allāh then he should either remain silent or praise Allāh quietly such as saying "Subhānak".
One of the latest trends is for people to listen to podcasts and read self-help books to try and find productivity in their day. As a Muslim, following the Prophet's habits will ensure that our time is filled with barakah and that we find purpose in that which we do daily.
We are pleased to announce a one day conference entitled:
The Life of the Dunya
Including lectures delivered by Shaykh Abu Khadeejah, Shaykh Abu Hakeem, and Shaykh Abu Idrees
Saturday 1st October | Starting 3pm | All Welcome
Attending Lessons of Students of Knowledge or Listening to Recordings from Major Scholars | Shaykh Mustafa Mabram
May Allah reward the mashayikh and students of knowledge up and down the country who benefit their communities with knowledge, wisdom and advice.
Ramadan has ended, may Allah accept our actions and forgive our shortcomings within it.
Now, we should reflect on how we spent this month, the worship we did, the habits we built, and the forgiveness we sought.
Continuing with that is the next goal!
All praise is due to Allah! A young, Jamaican sister in her 20s has just embraced Islam at the Markaz by the blessing of Allah! May Allah keep us and our sister firm, increase her in blessings and be pleased with her.
“They're my friend!”
This is a major problem in society. People take bad company, leading them to continuous sin.
Allah informed us that the wrongdoer will say on Yawm al-Qiyamah: “Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend!” [Al-Furqan (25:27)]
Many people spend their lives chasing success but what are the qualities a person needs to achieve it?
Shaykh al-Si'di explains an amazing Hadith outlining three qualities for success.
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim:
One of the tricks of Shaytan: He encourages the abandonment of commanding the good and forbidding the evil with the excuse of being kind to people and bringing them close.
(Ighathatul Lahfan 1/194)
Shumayṭ ibn 'Ajlān:
"Allāh has placed the strength of the believer in his heart and He did not place it in his muscles; do you not see that the old man is [physically] weak yet fasts on hot days and stands [for prayer] during the night whilst [many] youth are unable to do so?”
Some people say “I won't leave my children money when I die so they can become independent.” This opposes the teachings of the Prophet:
“That you leave your inheritors wealthy is better than leaving them needy, begging for what is in the peoples’ hands.” [Al-Bukhari (no. 5039)]
Along with fasting, increased prayers and generous giving, Ramadan is also a time for supplication.
In the Witr prayer there is a du’a which the Prophet (ﷺ) used to recite. Have a read and try to memorise it in order to add another Sunnah to your prayer.
May Allah accept it.
Shaykh Ibn al-'Uthaymīn, May Allāh have mercy on him:
Righteous people have stability and tranquility. Even if one of them is poor, Allāh gives them peace of mind and contentment.
(Tafsīr Sūrah al-Mā'idah 2/90)
To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
A beloved family from our Markaz has been tested with the loss of a young son.
We ask Allah to grant them and their loved ones patience during this trial.
Shaykh Zayd Ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī:
"If Iblīs was expelled and made distant due to refraining from one prostration he was commanded with, then what do you think about the one who refrains from the five daily prayers that comprise of thirty-four obligatory prostrations?"
Shaykh Al-Allāmah Muḥammad Ibn Sāliḥ Al-Uthaymīn - may Allāh have mercy on him - said
"Supplicating for your parent during the Tarawīḥ or Tahajjud prayer is much better than slaughtering ten camels on their behalf."
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Verily, due to his good character, the believer reaches the rank of the one who regularly fasts and prays voluntarily.”
[Sunan Abu Dawud (no. 4798): sahih/al-Albani]
A man said: “O Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, indeed, the legislated acts of Islām have become too much for me, so inform me of something that I will be able to adhere to.”
He ﷺ said: “Always keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allāh.”
Al-Tirmidhī, Albanī: Saḥiḥ
Allah's Messenger said:
“Verily Allah, the Most High, said: ‘Son of Adam, devote yourself to worshipping Me and I will fill your chest with contentment and alleviate your poverty. If you do not do so, I will fill your hands with work and never alleviate your poverty.’”
Shaykh Al-Allāmah ‘Abdullāh al-Bukhārī:
“Bravery is not that you insult and revile the people nor that you [superficially] overpower this one and that one. Rather, bravery is that you speak the truth with knowledge, justice, wisdom and forbearance.”
Liqā’āt al-Jumu’ah (no. 78)
A 21 year old brother who was previously a Hindu has just taken his Shahādah at the Markaz. May Allāh bless him and continue to guide us and Him until we meet him.
