Deeply & incredibly disappointed in the esports community today
“Forced to step back” is wildly disingenuous when a suspension is handed out for not cooperating in an investigation
As is parroting “iNnOcEnT UnTiL pRoVeN gUiLtY”… (1/2)
Okay so folks are harping on OWL for women being absent on the rosters…
again 😐
This is not an OWL issue this is a GAMING issue
There are only around 100 women who have earned more than $10k in tournaments & only around 50 who have earned over $50k ACROSS ALL TITLES 🧵
Pro players traveling to

- pls for the love of all that is holy DO NOT:
- Constantly tag your location (restaurants/bars)
- Post pictures in front of your hotel room (showing your room #)
- Or tag what hotel you’re staying at
I’d love for you all to stay safe 💙
An ex-boyfriend once told me I shouldn’t play video games because I’m a girl (after I asked if I could hop on his PC because I was bored while he played on his console)... I moved on to work on LotV, SC2 Esports, & now Overwatch League 😏
Tech Twitter: Tell me about a time someone underestimated or dismissed you and what amazing things you’ve gone on to do since then?
RT for reach if y’all want a bunch of victory stories 😌💖
First day at the new job 👀
Incredibly excited to announce I’ve joined the Destiny 2 Production Team
@Bungie
❕
Everyone has been so welcoming already & I can’t wait to dive into everything more ☺️
Hi all! Did you know that Tier 2 is super important for a healthy pro player base!?
Because of that after BlizzCon I’ll be shifting my role from OWL to
@owpathtopro
to help support Contenders & it’s players.
I have a lot of goals in mind & look forward to the challenges (1/2)
2021: It was determined that on at least two occasions Sinatraa misrepresented certain facts, made false statements, & did not cooperate with the investigation…
2022: nah, u prolly don’t need “Cooperating with Investigations” training, GLHF
???
Shout out to

She was the main activity designer for Excision, it was a wild ride getting the activity off the ground and I’m so happy & honored I got to be her producer through it
Cheers Milan, so damn proud of you 🥹
The Witness has retreated from the monolith - but, an important battle awaits.
We'll need all Guardians available to help us defeat the Witness, once and for all.
Rally with us and launch into Excision, a newly unlocked 12-player activity.
After six years, being gifted a sword, & countless esports events later Friday will be my last day at Blizzard Entertainment 💙
I’m forever grateful for the lessons learned, friends made, & the many adventures had. I’ll miss my Blizzard family but also excited for what’s next.
Guilt can’t be proven when there’s no investigation & the victim is harassed to the point of mental degradation
I’m sure it was a calculated decision to not cooperate in the investigation in hopes of receiving a lesser punishment. It worked
Congrats on pushing the industry back
This was just a little over six years ago 🥺… now down to 12 people (in all of Activision-Blizzard Esports)
Im so sorry to those that were let go, who still believed in OW Esports, you all deserved better 💔
*checking into the same hotel I do every week*
Receptionist: do you have a preferred area of the hotel?
*i slowly narrow my eyes*... which part reaches the nearby Pokémon stop?
Her: I know exactly which rooms, one moment.
Nice.

Scarlett is a woman, there’s no line to draw
This was also a significant moment bc this was her 1st major win, an NA player winning in Korea, & the 1st esport to be involved in the Olympics
This was a milestone for women AND esports so kindly stfu with this bull shit take🙂

Today is special to me as it marks my 3rd year at Blizzard Ent. & in some form working with StarCraft II, an experience I’ll always be grateful for. With that I’m also excited to announce that I’ve accepted a position on Overwatch League as a Player Relations Coordinator...
There’s a lot I could add about my own exp but I won’t here
Though, I will say that while there are some abhorrent people that contributed to this there were also advocates who always tried to do the right thing, so pls don’t harass people over this news.
Following her ill-fated email deflecting allegations made against Activision Blizzard, Frances Townsend has stepped down as Executive Sponsor of the ABK Women's Network, although she still remains employed by the company.
Hey everyone
#OWL2019
is only two weeks away... just.. two.. weeks 🤯
All the folks behind the scenes & on the teams (staff+players) are working like mad to make this season amazing for you all.
Pls distribute virtual high-fives & appreciation where applicable :)
When gross sexist things were talked about in the Skybox during early OWL, people "listened"
When myself and others on my team consistently brought up issues we were facing, little to nothing was done. But people "listened"
There's been enough listening

He then looked really excited and said back “because we’re friends!” and from then on the backstage greeting was always an enthusiastic “Hi!”
I believe him saying he wants fans to say hi is because he genuinely wants them to feel like friends ☺️
It’s Monday & Activision-Blizzard has yet to say anything about Fran Townsend’s gaslighting message to employees
Because if she didn’t personally experience harassment in the workplace the WHOLE FOUR MONTHS she’s been there must mean it doesn’t exist, right? RIGHT?!

I’m Kayla! I’m an associate producer

@DestinyTheGame
!
I started in QA at Blizzard, then 7 yrs in esports w/ Blizzard & Esports Engine before joining Bungie :)
Before games I used to work in animal rescue & still help where I can 😸
They (thankfully) deleted that garbage but pls take note:
date rapey misogynistic jokes still aren’t funny or anywhere close to being appropriate even when it’s gender bending filters 🖕

Getting behind this because I’m proud of my career path. I work on Overwatch League in player relations, previously with StarCraft Esports, & SC2 (specifically LotV & Co-op). I’ve been in the industry almost 4 years & happily look forward to many more ✌🏼
Now that I'm a bit more settled into the new gig I am happy to announce that I've joined
@EsportsEng
in their Burbank office as their Competition Manager!
I'm super excited to be a part of this group & helping bring more amazing esports events to life ✨💜
@owpathtopro
For any of the current & past T2 players that see this news - Dan genuinely cared about all of you & worked incredibly hard to keep Contenders going with very little.
You should have seen how proud/happy he was every time a player was promoted to OWL. He cared so much. 😔
We have a new intern here in the esports office but we’ve already had to have a chat about scaling up on constructing additional pylons 🙄
((Thank you
@chinbeard
for sending us your amazing work!))
If your reaction is “why not say something sooner?” or “she’s just trying to ruin his career” or “she could be lying” or to use descriptions like egirl...
Do yourself & anyone in your life who may have gone through this a favor & just shut the fuck up.
My heart hurts... it’s hard to feel good about “surviving” when so many amazing talented friends lost their jobs today... today fucking sucks, no way around it.

During Season 1 I would always greet SBB with a “Hello” & he would always happily repeat “Hello” back. One day I switched to “Hi!” he looked a bit confused, asked the difference between ‘hello’ & ‘hi’ & I explained that ‘hi’ is the less formal version of ‘hello’...
What’s the opposite of “doom scrolling”?
Like you’re happy crying while scrolling & seeing people say nice things about something your team made? 🥹😭

Now if any guy comes in to say “everyone deals with toxicity” or to “toughen up” you are absolutely part of the problem & unless you’ve walked in their shoes stfu & sit down. One small example is fans idolizing XQC when he had a fairly mediocre performance in OWL but…
Just thinking about how Lightfall releases in less than two weeks and how it was 100% done remote and how much I’ve enjoyed my new role the last six months
Our ABK friends deserve better 💙

Jon, I know you are a good person & that you truly care about the product & team you represent but please please do more than listen and claim being an ally.
Actions > words. I honestly believe you’re capable of that & I sincerely hope you live up to it.
Scarlett winning a major SC2 title the first time an esport was included in the Olympics people (men) massively downplayed the achievement. This is reflective of how women are treated while even just trying to improve in a competitive game, again, putting them at a disadvantage..
Then the unimaginable amount of shit those women get would scare off most from even bothering. This is true for when they’ve cracked the surface of being a “pro” but just getting there women are put at a significant disadvantage due to their online experience compared to a man’s
AHHH!! not only is it my birthday but also YA GIRL LEVELED UP!!! 🎉🥂 Changing that title from ‘Esports Coordinator’ to ‘Associate Player Relations Manager’ continuing with

I am so incredibly angry & disappointed.
They could have used this to acknowledge that they have to & can do better, that they are willing to LISTEN!
But no, this type of messaging only reinforces the fear of coming forward.
Absolutely livid.
Some of the League Ops Team needed healing after meeting Genji and Mercy helped us out 😍

It’s my 5 year Blizzard Anniversary today!
I don’t have my sword in hand yet so here’s a picture of myself & some awesome friends I worked with on LotV at my first ever Blizzard Champagne Toast 🥂
Decided to announce pre BlizzCon because I’d love to connect with T2 players at the event to discuss feedback, put faces to names, ect...
I’ve always believed fluid communication with your community is an important step to success & I wanted start that part as soon as I could :)
Being at the

walkout today gave me so much hope. So many hugs and productive conversations. Things need to and WILL change for the better, I have hope again 💙
Do not invest your energy on an “Esports Education”.
If, after the multitudes of red flags & issues in the industry, you still want to work in esports figure what you want to do (ie: project management, production, comp ops, etc…) study/learn that discipline & go from there.
🎓 Bachelor degrees aren't the only choice anymore.
With esports education on the rise in the UK, more students should be considering a Higher National Diploma in esports, argues Iain Earle of Salford Business School (
@salfordbizsch
).
BREAKING: Blizzard president J. Allen Brack is leaving the company, Activision Blizzard just told staff. Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra will take over as "co-leaders of Blizzard."
Filed to Bloomberg Terminal, story will be live shortly
It wasn’t until we set the rule that she couldn’t be asked anymore about being a woman in esports that people stopped asking for interviews, which is insane to me & I would be furious if I were in that position- again hard work didn’t mean anything only my gender 🙄
Tonight was a first for me - walking out of the venue with Team Sweden and an Overwatch Esports fan stopped me to take a photo with them. I thought she wanted to talk to chipshajen at first but I apparently have one fan...

& congrats on the win today. Little things like this mean so much & help keep me motivated 🧡
(i also maybe cried a little... a lot 😭)
Similar to the game dev crunch discussion - Esports grind culture is so damaging
There’s this expectation/feeling that you have to be on 24/7, working, living & breathing esports just to survive & all that’s done is burn out amazing talent (or discourage potential talent)…
@Kwinggx
Scarlett is a woman, there’s no line to draw.
This was also a significant moment because this was her first major win, an NA player winning in Korea, AND the first esports tournament to be involved in the Olympics.
But sure go off 🙄
Suspect known as “Pine” wanted for multiple eliminations in Boston and Houston. Last seen in Ilios.
If seen please notify Overwatch Officials immediately.
#OWL2018
If a woman wants to be in that position, then great, but it’s never been their choice while their male teammates have always had that choice. I witnessed first hand how Geguri was treated that way, hated interviews but was constantly hounded for them…
If a woman does something bad ass in your game or at a tournament idolize those achievements like you would your favorite OWL player. Have kids? Hammer it into their young brains to RESPECT WOMEN, to be friends with girls in their class & include them in activities they enjoy…
& the uncomfortable position of being forced to be the role model, the example, & all anyone wants to talk to you about is not your gameplay but the fact you’re a woman. Your hard work doesn’t matter only your gender- it’s incredibly alienating & demoralizing…
Bungie💜
I’m so fucking excited for you all to play The Final Shape in a couple months. So much love has gone into the expansion and the team absolutely nailed it 🥹
Fran Townsend has NO right to claim she represents any women at Activision-Blizzard. If she isn’t going to resign for her gross dismissive statements then she AT LEAST owes every single one of them an apology & to sit the fuck down & learn from the women who came before her.
my mom: when are you going to give me grandchildren?
me: look, I don’t even want the responsibility of children in The Sims, how do you expect me to manage that IRL?
her: .... ffs
Over breakfast I tell my Grandpa about my new Overwatch League position & about the league in general. He then immediately looks up the schedule, downloads Twitch on his phone, & researches the teams. Turns out he’s going to be a SF Shock fan.
How do we fix it?
It starts on social media & in the games you’re playing competitively- call out harassment & sexism, if you’re ever called out for something however minor or unintended don’t puff your chest, stfu & learn how you can do better…
As we extend the joy and community of gaming to everyone, we are incredibly excited to welcome the fantastic teams and iconic franchises of Activision Blizzard to Team Xbox
Dan was such a positive force to be around, just a genuinely great person.
He deserved better. It fucking sucks.
T2 Overwatch, esports, & the world lost a good one.
@MnikaLee
When I quit and they weren’t letting anyone into the offices during lockdown my stuff + other people’s stuff was “packed” and similarly broken, and left outside in the sun?? Just literally no care to it at all 😠
Ah, the usual smooth brain takes when there’s initiatives for women in esports. Not that many of these clowns will pay attention to this but here’s a simple breakdown on *why* this is great for esports as a whole… (1/?)
Pls stop saying that he’ll be out in 2023
The board should’ve kicked him out LAST YEAR, now he’s guaranteed to be CEO for another year+, then massively benefit from the sale
This is not a win for anyone who wanted Kotick to see any actual fucking consequences for his actions
now... BATTLE!
but not really..
@pcgamerprincess
and I finally received our pointy reward for booping around

for five years & since we started the same day on SC2 together & moved to Blizzard Esports together we decided to celebrate together 💜
