🧵For those who stood for Constitutional rights, @KacyJDixon captures that either we were the criminals, or criminals still run the military. Since there's good evidence of the latter, then without accountability they will do it again & their proteges will learn to do the same.

Following @DoD_USD_PR policy to return COVID vaccine “refusers” to service, I’ve been asked about the “obsession” some of us have over mere words (i .e., insisting the execution of the order be called “unlawful”)— rather than just celebrating the “win” of reinstatement. Here’s.

9/ Most importantly GOP voters need to understand that reps who have aligned with Burrows are a significant part of the problem. A strong, conservative 90th TXLege Freshman class (like most of the 89th TXLege Freshmen) will go a long way toward advancing conservative policy.

8/ Awareness of Burrows's unfavorable bargain with Dems should help HD83 see him in a new light. It also means they may have an outsized amount of leverage in changing his behavior if he thinks he may lose reelection in 2026. kind of like Glenn Rogers lost to @olcott4texas.

7/ This session's situation is really just a continuation of the issues previously outlined by @TexasScorecard in their excellent video "The Texas Heist", but with Burrows standing in for Dade Phelan. It's well worth a watch.

6/ The only counterbalance to Burrows's reliance on Dem support is what his HD83 constituents think of him. While his performance in GOP primaries has been slipping since he first ran in 2014, voters East and South of Lubbock still think he's doing good enough to reelect him.

5/ It's reasonable to be upset with Dems for breaking Quorum, but they weren't incentivized not to, nor were they properly penalized for not returning. Burrows has little incentive to truly punish Dem misbehavior since he is dependent on them to Speaker in the 90th TXLege.

4/ Burrows became the 89th TXLege Speaker of the House in the second & final vote by a margin of 85 to 55 with 10 not voting. What is eye opening is that of his 85 votes 49 (or 58% of his total) came from Democrats.

3/ The first floor vote for Speaker in the 89th TXLege, Burrows's coalition looked similar to the numbers from his press release, with 38 Democrats (52% of his support) and 34 Republicans (48%) voting for him. 54 Republicans (61% of the House GOP) voted for @DavidCookTexas.

2/ As you'll remember, in early December 2024, the GOP Caucus held a meeting to vote for their TXLedge House Speaker nominee. Dustin Burrows left that meeting to announce he had enough votes to be speaker. 39 of the purported 76 votes (52%) were Dems.

David Cook of Mansfield is now the Texas GOP's nominee for Speaker of the House, but Representative Dustin Burrows of Lubbock says he has enough votes to win the gavel.

🧵It's no surprise that Speaker Burrows didn't impose meaningful consequences on Quorum breakers & is prioritizing Dem priorities. Most of this thread has been covered before, but hope the graphics help the GOP Grassroots understand where Burrows political support comes from.

It’s almost Wednesday @DoD_USD_PR, so here’s a suggested accountability recipe for you. Sounds like Maj Kim Bitter’s chain of command & their JAGs need some corrective feedback, especially given the disconnect from SecDef guidance:. @RobGreen1010
