Emil Andrae, who took a tripping penalty in the first period, has a better special teams experience in the second as he wired a one-timer that Tyson Foerster appeared to deflect in. Flyers answer on the PP to tie it

Flyers were poised to gain momentum after a nice penalty kill, only to give up a goal just a second after the PP ended on a deflection by Connor McMichael. 2-1 Caps 4:17 into the second

The student started the scoring, but the teacher just responded. Alex Ovechkin buries a centering pass in the last minute for goal No. 879 to tie the game in the last minute of the period

Well, he got another chance and didn't miss it. A breakaway goal that you could feel coming at the end of an excellent period for Michkov, snapping a seven-game point drought

Two great chances for Matvei Michkov in the first four minutes (including one set up by Nic Deslauriers, of all people). Neither went in, but he drew a hooking penalty on the second

Back at the Wells Fargo Center for @TheHockeyWriter as the Flyers return home for a two-game stint to take them into the Four Nations break. Alex Ovechkin, 18 goals behind Wayne Gretzky, and the Eastern Conference leading Washington Capitals visit tonight

That'll just about do it. Kyle Palmieri burns Jamie Drysdale and beats Ivan Fedotov for a 4-on-4 goal to make it 3-0 halfway through the third

Bad line change it looked for the Flyers and Marc Gatcomb gets his first NHL goal. A 2-0 lead feels more like 10-0 in a game as low-event as this

Simon Holmstrom delivers the long-awaited breakthrough two seconds past the halfway mark of regulation. We'll see if that's what this game needs to open up

Tyson Foerster chops Bo Horvat down right into Ivan Fedotov, who is still stretching things out but appears to be ok. Foerster gets a minor on the play

After some early fireworks, it turned into a pretty ordinary first period outside of the overturned goal. Pretty even play overall

And it's called back. There was slight contact from Frost and he appeared to be stationed in the crease, so I think it's the right call by the letter of the law. But it's also not much for a contact sport
