58 yrs. challenging my abilities in swimming, running, biking, weightlifting, sports, calesthenics, and motosports while keeping it at a sustainable level.
USPA rules. Since I am from Florida I can only represent Florida. So I drove to Mississippi to break the Florida State record.🤣 So I got the state record for Florida Masters 55-59 yr olds and Open Masters. Only had to do 330lbs
Bodyweight today. Down to one heavy lifting a week and shifting more to bodyweight as the Triathlon nears. More or less, I'm wondering what did I get myself into??? Reminds me when I joined the Navy, and Dive school, and flight school, and ran a marathon etc etc etc. (Speed 1.3)
We all have our weaknesses, and just like excuses they are valid until you do something about them. Knock out as many as you can one by one. Olys suck. I mean they're awesome!
Today I'm testing the effects of yesterday's 13 mile run on my strength. None whatsoever. Runners don't like lifting and lifters don't like running.
The looks I got from bridge runners yesterday.... hilarious.
Plyos and then swim. Next month will mark 1 year since moving away from lifting and beginning to work on my cardio endurance. I have begun to do endurance challenges. By the following year, I am hoping to go from completing to competing in both disciplines.
@Cernovich
I had this woman approach me in the parking lot, asking me if I lived in her neighborhood. She ran into me a few times more at the same store... blah blah blah and now we're married....... I should have done what this lady did.
After some time off, I'm back on the deadlift platform practicing lifts. Unfortunately, I did not have an audience for hip-thrusters, so I didn't film them.😬🤣
Maintaining strength. This week's tethered and pool swim with run, and bike with run, so far has no effect on strength. I will continue to maintain both and hope to bring down endurance times.
Marathon. Hit a milestone in my fitness. Talked into it by my buddy, and I'm just gonna say. If she and I were racing... "I came in second, she came in second to last."
All kidding aside. I thank my wife and everyone for their support.
8 lbs down with no carb loading, and I feel a slight effect. No big deal, I need to eat and carb up. Lifting has been secondary to triathlon training last year, but I stayed in the game and made every attempt to maintain strength throughout that time. 3 months and here I am.
Week 3. It was a great workout to straighten out a terrible morning. Hit the benchmarks I set for myself and I consider I'm at 90 percent recovered and feel confident to begin training without worry.
Ratchet City Rumble, Shreveport Louisiana drug tested powerlifting meet. Win some (bench and best lifter), lose some (deadlifts) overall broke two state records and won best lifter. I'm okay with it. Except when this guy, deadlifting 940 lbs, made me look irrelevant.
Squats and biking.
My breathing is all over the place.
Lifting, I mainly breathe from the "top of my lungs." Running, I breathe from the "bottom of the lungs." Swimming, I breathe in rhythm with the stroke.
Just me
I loaded up the bikes to redo Tuesday's bike ride before getting hit. Got up to 24 mph and sustained it for about 3 miles, then slowed down. Everything feels good. Still a little pain on running. Things looking better. Just got to wait on ortho to give me some negative news.🤣
Since I was talking crap to all my bodyweight lifting friends, I decided to own up. Today I worked on bodyweight, balance, and stability. Left side needs work.
Less than a month until my bench-only powerlifting meet. 55 plus and I'm currently at 184 lbs so I may go into this at the lighter end of the 198 lb category.
Quick reps and a slow controlled rep.
Last "work gym" workout for two weeks. Calesthenics and running will tie me over in the meantime. A little adventure here and there will keep the joints and muscles moving. Then a competition of something completely different.
Track run later.
I'm seeing strength degradation with triathlon training. It's expected, but I'm still trying to maintain it. I may need to adjust breathing, diet, psyche, and rest. 1st half of workout I was struggling with 275 lbs. Changed my psyche and pushed up 315 lb once, but I'll take it.
In Downtown Raleigh NC. Decided to go for a run. Immediately realized there are nothing but hills and intersections so I decided to walk, finished up at the gym with a brisk sprint and then lifted.
Decided to partition kettle bell swings to 15reps/10breaths down to 15/5 and repeat. 44lbs is beginning to feel light as my shoulder and arms are beginning to take over regardless of the prior inclines and shoulder workout. Will need to move to the 53 lbs.

It's political. If your bio has a blue wave, rainbow flag, Ukrainian flag, or pronouns. I already know your take on Elon and how your mind has been programmed. If you have none of those, I can only assume.
Coming to the conclusion upper body strength is unaffected by running. Will test leg strength after a long run in a few weeks. (This only applies to me)
