Russian invasion took away everything from these families except the main thing – their big heart. The large foster families of Umansky and Yaroslavtsev escaped from the occupation, and @Zelenska_FND helped them with new homes as part of the Childhood Address project. I had an opportunity to introduce them to the head of the Foreign Office of 🇬🇧 @DavidLammy and show how our project works. The more large foster families we can support with the help of partners from around the world, the closer we will be to overcoming orphanhood.

I was pleased to welcome @DavidLammy, Minister of Foreign Affairs of 🇬🇧, to Kyiv. We discussed with him the reform of better care in Ukraine, which should replace boarding schools with family-based care. The focus of @Zelenska_FND is on supporting large foster families: providing housing and equipment, humanitarian aid, summer vacation for thousands of children. I am grateful to the UK and all partners for their understanding and support along the way. Together we are changing the system so that every child has a caring family.

Together with UN Secretary-General's Special Representative Najat Mjid and UNICEF Ukraine's Head of Mission @MunirMammadzade, we have visited the Khanin family, a large foster family. Before the full-scale war, they had their own farm in the Kharkiv region, but lost everything to the Russian invasion. Now the large foster family lives in Nizhyn, in a house purchased with a government subvention. To help them set up a new life, we sent them the necessary appliances and gadgets from @Zelenska_FND. Despite all the challenges, the Khanin family recently welcomed 2 more boys into the family and are now raising 7 children. This is the true power of humanity.

Chernihiv region suffers from more than 20 Russian attacks a day, but more than 86,000 schoolchildren continue to study here. We must do everything possible to keep them safe. Today I visited a shelter that the Foundation is equipping with the support of the government of the Åland Islands. Soon it will be a self-contained, barrier-free space for pupils and kindergarteners. We have more than a dozen more such facilities in different regions ahead. We are grateful to our partners for their help!

We had an opportunity to hand over three new ambulances to the Emergency Care Centers in Chernihiv Region. The vehicles were provided by the @Zelenska_FND Foundation's partners from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – a total of 60 vehicles that will soon be sent to the regions. Ambulances are constantly being targeted by the enemy, so the need for them also remains constant. We are doing everything we can to help our medics in this regard in the future.

Today, we are in Chernihiv region together with @Zelenska_FND team. The region borders the aggressor country, and its communities are constantly suffering from enemy shelling. Unfortunately, 42% of children in Chernihiv region cannot attend school, so it is so important to help them get education online. This time, together with the Foundation's team and the Acting Ambassador of Latvia to Ukraine Madara Siliņa, we handed over 628 gadgets from our Latvian partners @ziedot_lv for vulnerable schoolchildren. I am grateful for this opportunity for children to develop despite the challenges of war.

Izium is under attack again. Russian missile hit the city center, and residential building, the city council, the social security service, and other civilian infrastructure came under fire. It is painful that there are dead again, more than 30 people are wounded. My condolences to their families and friends. The world must call a spade a spade: Russia is committing terror, and it cannot go unpunished.

Unfortunately, our morning began with a tragedy again. Russian missile hit a residential high-rise building in Poltava, destroying one of the entrances. Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and other regions also came under massive shelling. Once again, Russia has targeted civilians. This pain is felt in every corner of Ukraine. No crime will be forgotten. My condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones and suffered from this horrific attack. The world cannot get used to this cruelty. Terror will not stop on its own – it must be stopped by joint efforts.

The Kalashnyk family became a large foster family just a few weeks ago. The couple, who are raising seven siblings, had their home destroyed by Russian shelling. Today, the family has a new home with a subvention from the state, and @Zelenska_FND helped to equip it with household appliances and brought gadgets for the children to study. I was glad to have the opportunity to meet this family during my trip to Dnipro region. I believe that when a large foster family feels comfortable and supported, eventually there will be more such families and each child will receive such important care and love.

Together with the @Zelenska_FND team, we visited three equipped shelters in educational institutions in the Dnipro region. I am glad that we had the opportunity to renovate them. Now these are modern and comfortable barrier-free spaces that can shelter almost 2,000 students during an air raid, and one of the shelters can also accommodate kids from a neighboring kindergarten. I am grateful to all the partners who help the Foundation to create safe learning conditions despite the challenges of war. Each shelter is a support for education and thus the future of our children.
