🚨New in @JAMAnetworkopen: In a recent study of 125,474 obese or overweight adults, we found that most discontinue GLP-1s within a year, but these rates are much higher and reinitiation rates are much lower for patients without type 2 diabetes.

Lowering prices of drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy is great, but it’s not enough. By adopting a subscription model (think Amazon Prime for GLP-1s) for eligible Medicare and Medicaid patients, we could eliminate the barriers of individual pricing. It's time to rethink our approach.
