@CcibChris France was originally part of the EFA project but split away and built Rafale as the other Nations didn’t want to build a carrier version of what became Typhoon. Other main difference is Rafale is qualified to carry nuclear weapons, Typhoon isn’t.

@FrankieOkane3 @MartinSLewis Fair chance you are only getting 20% tax relief as part of paying the money into the pension, to get the other 20% back you need to put all the figures on a tax return - then they should send you a refund and/or adjust your tax code for next year

@RodneyMarshall1 BAFTA nominated for “Edge of Darkness” and lost to his co-star Bob Peck - brilliant performance and a great series, that is well worth another viewing (there is the later film version with Mel Gibson that moves the whole thing to the US and has Ray Winstone as a British Jedburgh)

@A_J_Higgins The trick is going to be to engineer Overture (Mk2 ?) to do this reliably and have a cruise speed that sustains it (rather than the M2 that Concorde was optimized for) - that needs a flight computer (and necessary data feeds) that couldn’t be built in the 50s, 60s etc.

@archivetvmus71 Have a vague memory of watching this, and the plane crashing due to the plastic “melting”; but perhaps confused with the Andromeda Strain where a pilots plastic facemask crumbles away

@brickmack @KenKirtland17 Gorbachev was reportedly worried it would upset the US, whether it was deliberate or a result of the rushed development is an interesting question

@DrChrisCombs There’s probably more interest in how much of the overall budget can get routed back via layers of management consultacy companies and risk analysts etc etc rather than the results of the actual research that gets done with what is left.

@BellikOzan Flying Orion with crew still looks risky to me, but another flight to learn more about heat shield material performance on lunar return trajectories might get some useful data - but even the cost of that is debatable

@BellikOzan At least launch what is built that can be flown using ML-1, but the first thing that needs stopping is ML-2

@BellikOzan The Polyus payload was just bizarre - for some odd tech reason it was put on Energia upside down, and was then supposed to rotate 180 degrees before firing it’s engines for orbit insertion - a software error made it spin 360 degrees and the burn just bought it straight back down
