Thank you for taking the time to listen and putting yourself in their shoes ❤️ Indeed, many ZAKA volunteers have responded to the scenes of the October 7th massacre and dedicated themselves to seemingly never ending work of recovery and identification to provide a dignified burial and also support the families of casualties. Many suffer\ed consequences of trauma due to the extreme scale of pure evil witnessed. ZAKA has been providing and fundraising to continue providing volunteers with professional healing and resilience treatments. (Readers that would like to help support these efforts - can donate via the link at the top of this thread).

Volunteers from ZAKA's International Unit responded to a tragic car accident in which a 13-year-old boy was killed while returning with his parents from Belgium to England. Another family member was moderately injured. The ZAKA International Unit team, led by volunteer Shmulik Markowitz, worked alongside local authorities and police to handle the recovery process. Haim Weingarten, ZAKA's Deputy Director of Operations, said: "This is a devastating and painful event. Just last month, the boy who was killed celebrated his first tefillin ceremony here in Israel, and was due to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah with his twin brother in the coming days." "The volunteers of ZAKA's International Unit work day and night to assist any Jew and Israeli wherever they may be," Weingarten continued. "Yishar Koach to the team led by Shmulik Markowitz, who is handling this sensitive situation with dedication and supporting the family. We pray they will know no more sorrow."

Yesterday morning, ZAKA volunteer Lidor Sofer rushed to respond to a terror attack on Route 55 near Kedumim. Palestinian terrorists opened fire on a bus and several private vehicles as they passed through the Al-Funduq village, murdering three Israelis and injuring six others. This was the same spot where a Palestinian terrorist stabbed and murdered Lidor's father Shalom outside a grocery store in the village two years ago. The victims were Rachel Cohen (73), a mother of five daughters and an educational consultant, and Aliza Rize (70), also a mother and educational consultant, who were close friends traveling together in one vehicle. Sergeant Elad Yaakov Vinklestein, a police investigator at Ariel station and father of two, was murdered in a separate vehicle approximately fifty meters away. "Pain and loss are part of our lives," Lidor shared while carrying out his sacred duty, "but we choose to turn them into a force that drives us to help others. This mission gives me hope and strength to carry on, even in the most difficult moments." ZAKA teams have been working at the difficult scene to collect evidence and treat the deceased with dignity. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of Rachel, Aliza, and Elad, and pray for the full recovery of the wounded.

Journey of Heroes ZAKA's Jeep Unit and IDF's National Rescue Unit joined forces in a Salute to IDF's wounded soldiers, taking hundreds of 'One Family' children (the aid organization for victims of terrorism) and Haverim Le'Refuah children (the medicine sourcing aid organization) on an unforgettable off-road adventure. The journey kicked off with the arrival of hundreds of children and their families to the Ayalon Valley farm, where they joined 120 jeepers from ZAKA's Jeep Unit and from there for a fascinating journey and field activity operated by officers and soldiers of the IDF National Rescue Unit (Home Front Command's National Rescue Unit), allowing children with cerebral palsy a unique field experience that included an accessible Omega, laser shooting, and a Bedouin tent in the Ben Shemen forest. The Heroes' Journey was joined by approximately 150 family members of the wounded from the Iron Swords War, who were given a day of respite and reinforcement for the continued daily struggle that was forced upon them. After the activities in the field, all participants returned to the Ayalon Valley Farm, where a dinner was held over a campfire, the lighting of Hanukkah candles, an artistic performance, and a joyful holiday dance for all participants. Minister of Health Rabbi Uriel Bosso, who surprised the families in the field, was moved and said: "We saw ZAKA's volunteers and the IDF's National Rescue Unit warriors in difficult days during the war and it is moving to see the dedication and partnership of all those who took part in the Heroes' Journey and support the families of the wounded and disabled children. This is a symbol of the holiday of Hanukkah to see and show the light even if there is difficulty and darkness all around." Haim Otmazgin, ZAKA's special units commander who led and initiated the exciting journey said: As someone who experienced the effects of war, I felt a great privilege to meet the families of the wounded and express my appreciation for IDF's National Rescue Unit and ZAKA volunteers for their daily heroism alongside their loved ones who were injured in the war. Lieutenant Colonel Yossi Pinto, Commander of IDF's National Rescue Unit: "We were given a unique opportunity to express the values of IDF's National Rescue Unit to reach every person who needs help and be there for them, especially when it comes to the families of wounded warriors. The experience of seeing the children and families happy during this journey is extremely moving. It is important for us to be part of such an event that brings light and joy." 📍 Ayalon Valley 📸 ZAKA Spokesperson Unit
