On July 5th the Asian American Literature Festival was suddenly canceled by @smithsonian leadership, just weeks in advance. Without explanation, they erased months of planning work and canceled a unique and historically significant event.

@LaurieMMarshall @aureleos I just read Matthew Salesses âCraft in the Real Worldâ where he discusses this. The question he poses is that if characters of color are expected to be ânamedâ as their race, why are white characters not? It makes white the âstandardâ. HIGHLY recommend the read.
