Nizam Ali Khan in fact helped the British kill Tipu Sultan in 1799.
He had signed the treaty of subsidiary alliance with the EIC in 1798
The Marathas and the Nizam conspired, allied with the British to ensure his fall. The many recreations of pivotal moments in the Anglo-Mysore wars bear testimony to a ‘Tipu mania’ in British circles when he was killed in the fourth Anglo-Mysore war in 1799.
