Red Sox have to be happy tonight…the money means little to them. $40M/yr is eye-popping but they can easily afford it. Especially as they kept the years low. They have a ton of cheap talent nearly ready for the majors too….

Bregman indeed has opt-outs after the first two years….I tweeted that last week. Happy to get that right…but never thought he’d get $40M/year. Good for him…helluva deal.

That’s a good point. But mainly I just think nearly everyone knows it’s a business decision. It’s a life altering choice for him. Also as noted yesterday, it’s his last big chance in free agency. The teams waiting on his choice have had all winter to go another route…if they’re still in the running it’s by their choice. Not Bregman’s fault.

The Tigers, on paper, have more than enough starting pitching options to cover up for several weeks without Alex Cobb….indeed getting him added as a possible mid-season boost might work out just fine.

Some of the video of Travis Kelce being a total turnstile in pass protection and then standing around like a turd while Mahomes is scrambling is pretty ugly. I realize they’re just picking out a few plays…but it’s not a good look.

Well….that stinks. The Triple A schedule only has the Toledo Mudhens visiting the Iowa Cubs for one series this year instead of two… Also it’s the last home series of the year for Iowa. Sept 16-21. That’s a long wait for me….but maybe Clark and McGonigle will be in Toledo by then!

Players only get x-amount of shots to be a free agent…I can’t blame Bregman if he’s milking it for everything it’s worth to him in negotiations. Take all the time you want…

6’8” lefty. HSer. 98-mph gas. Tight slider in the low 80’s. Cool name. Kruz Schoolcraft is definitely the kid I’m watching for the Tigers in this year’s draft…but he might be long gone by the time the Tigers are up.

I’ve never complained about a halftime show…to my recollection. Maybe I made some fossil-jokes when they were on a run of aging rockers for a few Super Bowls. My highlight last night was saying “hey…is that Serena Williams??!” Otherwise…some liked it, some hated it. I don’t care.

The trophy/ring room in his house is probably pretty sweet… Last night Eagles receiver DeVonta Smith became the 5th player to win a Super Bowl, a College National Championship and the Heisman Trophy. (Charles Woodson, Tony Dorsett, Reggie Bush, Marcus Allen are the others)
