Today I had the privilege of meeting ‘Howard’ 102 years old and a veteran of WWII. Landing on Utah beach during the D Day Landings. Visiting the tower before going onto visit the very beach he landed on 80 years ago. A real privilege to meet him today.

On September 7th 1920, in strictest secrecy four unidentified British bodies were exhumed from temporary battlefield cemeteries at Ypres, Arras, the Asine and the Somme.
None of the soldiers who did the digging were told why. The bodies were taken by field ambulance to GHQ

17 years ago today we were in London, I had just been presented with the Cutler Sword before the LMS started. My aspiration back then was to become the Senior Drum Major of the British Army..... if you work hard enough, and really want something, nothing is out of reach. 🏰🗝️

This is a very momentous photo for us here, because this is the last ever one taken of us wearing The Queen's uniform and the distinctive EIIR. From yesterday we will be in The King's uniform for the first time. Those in this photo have only ever worn The Queen's uniform. 🏰🗝️
🗝️ On this day in 1940 the Ceremony of Keys was disrupted for the only time in its history when a bomb fell on the Tower of London 🏰 The Chief Yeoman Warder was blown off his feet, but otherwise unhurt 🙏

Today I have handed over the role of Army Senior Drum Major after 4 years. It has been a blast and a great way to end my 26 year career. Time to change rank slide for a few months before I leave the Army. Thank you everyone who has helped over my tenure and career.

The Yeoman Warders and Tower Guard marched out, accompanied by members of the Welsh Guards. The HAC Band performed and the ceremony was supported by the HAC Pikemen and Musketeers and the HAC Light Cavalry.

The historic Ceremony of the Constable's Dues.Every ship that came upstream to the City had to moor at Tower Wharf to unload a portion of its cargo for the Constable of the Tower. Royal Marines dropped off a Barrel of Port. It made its way into our club,rude not too Cheers Royal
a specially designed coffin made of oak from the grounds of Hampton Court, was brought and the unknown warrior placed inside.
On top was placed a crusaders sword and a shield on which was inscribed '( a British Warrior who fell in the GREAT WAR 1914-1918 for king and country'.
My neighbour works for the NHS 🌈 After completing a night shift I cleaned his car ready for him to use. Thought he would appreciate a clean car.

On arrival at Dover the the unknown warrior was greeted with a 19 gun salute, normally only reserved for field marshals. He then traveled by special train to Victoria Station London.
He stayed there overnight and on the morning of the 11th of November he was taken to Westminster
at St-Pol-Sur-ter noise.
There the bodies were draped with the union flag. Sentries were posted and Brigadier-General Wyatt and a colonel gell selected one body at random.
A French honour guard was selected, and stood by the coffin overnight. In the morning of the 8th
On The 9th of November the unknown warrior was taken by horse drawn carriage through guards of honour and the sound of tolling bells and bugle.
Calls to the quayside. There it was saluted by Marechal Foche and loaded onto HMS Vernon bound for Dover...the coffin stood on the deck
After 2 weeks off it’s back to work and this evening I am the Watchman.
First task is to Warn the visitors and strangers that the Tower grounds are now closed!

Last night I had the privilege of serving drinks at one of the YW’s daughter’s wedding. This morning I’m back to defending the ‘Tower’ after attacking this Bacon,cheese baguette.

⚓️ The Royal Marines have a special connection to the Tower, General Sir Gordon Messenger was the first ever Royal Marine to become the Constable of the Tower at his installation in 2022.
