On November 14, Māori MP Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke tore up a proposed Treaty Principles Bill in Parliament and led a haka with Te Pāti Māori. Her actions reflect Māori opposition to the reinterpretation of the Treaty of Waitangi.

It is clear that the opioid and mental health crisis in First Nations is bad. Data obtained from ISC indicates that prescriptions for classes of drugs designed to treat opiate addiction and mental health issues have skyrocketed over the past twenty years.
