Iceland meets 89% of its primary energy supply and almost 100% of its electricity using clean energy. With an endowment 1.5x as large, Yale should commit to going carbon neutral by 2030 and to fully divesting Yale's endowment from fossil fuels.

Students and alumni are delivering the same message to the @Yale administration: Yale must grasp the opportunity to lead on climate change, which starts on campus. If the whole world must decarbonize before 2050, Yale should surely be ahead of the curve, not behind it.
Yale students say the university must decarbonize by 2030, not 2050. "How can we ask the whole world to change their ways of life if the richest and wealthiest institutions are unwilling to do so themselves?" My latest in @grist:

@JimStLeger @maggiethomas315 @ayanaeliza Jim, the Yale Corporation is simply the formal name for Yale's governing body, as established in the 1701 charter. It is sometimes also called the Board of Trustees, and is ultimately responsible for Yale's finances, leadership hiring, investments, academic direction and more.

We couldn't agree more. Our climate action and endowment justice plans lay a path to a carbon neutral @Yale by 2030, which we will achieve by listening to our scientists, thoughtfully allocating our endowment, and investing in our host city of New Haven.
Great op-ed on how @Yale (sitting on a $31 billion endowment!!) is only planning to go carbon-neutral by . . . 2050. Slower than less wealthy schools and a generation too late. Time for a plan to rapidly decarbonize & create green jobs for New Haven!
