My thanks to colleagues at @hmyoifeltham for participating in the BBC’s recent knife crime documentary. This helped give unique insight into the challenges faced by children and young people – and by our staff working with them to make a difference.

This powerful message captures what it means to work in the YCS. The people we work with sometimes become like family, united in a shared mission to make a difference. Proud of the extraordinary work our teams do every day. #ExtraordinaryJob #HMPPS #YCS
Working with 15 to 18 year olds in custody is tough. However, you can make a real difference. As a Youth Justice Worker, you’ll be part of a close-knit team helping support children & young people ⬇️ An extraordinary job. Done by someone like you.

So proud of colleagues going above and beyond to make sure children can spend time with their families and support networks this festive period. Wherever you work, my thanks to everyone across the YCS family who dedicates themselves to the children in our care, all year round.
Throughout the festive period, our extraordinary staff continue to work to maintain public safety and support rehabilitation across prisons, probation and youth custody. We caught up with staff working on Christmas Day at HMYOI Werrington ⬇️

It was a huge moment in 2024 when @OasisRestore welcomed its first children. A lot of effort, time and talent from people across justice, health and education helped bring the secure school vision into reality - great to see this acknowledged.
