Wow. Those charts are pretty damning. Going to be a pretty tough road of government subsidized demand to hoe if catching up in these categories really is a strategic priority.
A bunch of western energy investors went to China, which makes >80% of the world’s solar at 6x cheaper than the US, and basically realized “that Western investors live in a bubble in their misconceptions about China” and “catching up to that is futile: it’s not going to happen”

Replit V3 Agent. Pros: more autonomous, can really run down longer tasks. Cons: more autonomy, tries to do way more. Constantly overworks, having to correct its previous steps, resulting in longer compute times and higher costs. Or maybe I'm bad at prompting (likely).
I’m vibe coding the shittiest software, and it’s like “Oh yeah, every crappy app I’m annoyed with is actually amazing.” Played 🎷 for years and learned a bit 🎚️🎛️. Same thing. Every crappy DJ on every label is still so far beyond my modicum of practice. Glad for specialists.

At the highest level, software development and music production are both manifestations of creative taste, forged through thousands of hours of practice. Done well, the outputs of both belie their complexity.

Creativity is funny. The more I write, the easier it is to write, the more frequently topics or ideas come into my head to write. Similar with anything creative. Movement creates data, provides ideas and direction. Hardest part is starting.

I think so. VC’s a power law biz. Median badly outperforms the S&P. Plus, venture’s taking 2/20 vs lower fee structure for the average closet indexing ‘value’ fund.

Creating anything - software, writing, music, art - as a hobbyist is so pleasantly (frustratingly) humbling. It gives you an acute appreciation for just how good all the things we consume and take for granted are.

Replit automatically added light/dark mode to my MVP out the gate. Google still hasn't added native dark mode to sheets or docs. We've achieved AGI, ladies and gentlemen.
