When you live in a city with a smaller gay community, and less permanent gay presence, seeing the city come alive with rainbows during Pride Month feels so much more important.
Wolves Pride is this Saturday, it costs a FIVER but there’s also a free parade, market, and stage.
My first Aventra ride.
Open gangways, new standing areas, wide interiors AND more than enough legroom even when you’re taller than 6’4!
The West Midlands is seeing a definite upgrade with these in service.
In Wolverhampton alone, hundreds of apprentices, employees, and many more in supply chain are already working on HS2.
There was meant to be a supply chain and jobs for a decade, leaving a massive infrastructure project…
Instead there will be… nothing?
Crossrail cost £18.8 Billion, a rail corridor in London.
The West Midlands pay off for losing HS2?
1 Billion to maybe get a tram line in the future.
The Government are laughing at us.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but this suggests that the only devolved money THE ENTIRE METROPOLITAN W.MIDS will get is £1Billion.
That’s what? One and a half tram lines?
So after consultancy fees, tendering, construction, we might get a tram line and a bit in a decade?
Wolverhampton came out in force today for our biggest Pride Parade in our history.
We’re always proud to be a tolerant, open, and diverse city and seeing the whole town splashed in colour was amazing.
Next year, bigger and better!
The yearly West Midlands experience is desperately trying to find a card with “Mom” on it because if I called her Mam or Mum she would excommunicate me.

All the card readers on the automatic machines were down at Wolverhampton Station.
West Midlands Railway and Trainline app also weren’t vending tickets.
Whole station then starting to queue at the one (very lovely) physical counter.
This is why we needed ticket offices.
I love that Wolverhampton decorates so many roads in the city fill festooned with Pride flags.
Raising awareness and visibility is a hugely important element of pride.
Remember, our pride is ONLY A FIVER to come to the main stage, and the other stage and parade are FREE.
I’m proud to have been invited to join the Cabinet once again, as Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills.
I’m also thrilled to see Wolverhampton’s absolute commitment to Sustainable Transport, with a brand new Cabinet Member for Transport and Green City.
The Government is about sign off on a national insurance 2p cut that will cost the nation £10bn, saving the average worker as little as £37 a month.
Instead, with that money, they could save, and radically improve Local Government, saving residents much more.
They won’t.
Happy Birthday to me, I finally got a Caterpillar Cake but nobody can, and I quote, “be doing with putting 28 candles in it, he can have one and be lucky for it”
Full campaigning session in the bag, and then a proper Black Country dinner to celebrate.
Cheese could do with being a bit thicker but that’s a proper cob.
A special baby and his owners visited us in Wolverhampton today.
We had a tour around town, and he loved West Park while the owners loved the Art Gallery and Coffee Shops.
It’s always great showing people around Wolverhampton.
New £61 million college for the City Centre, bringing hundreds and hundreds of students right into the heart of the city every single day, just a 5 minute walk from BUS, TRAIN and TRAM stations.
Is this the best connected major college outside of London?
We have secured the main contract with our chosen constructor

10 years without dad today. It’s always a difficult day, but spending it with my mum and sister is always the best thing to do.
Bowel Cancer is treatable if found early.
Don’t ignore any of the symptoms.
Being a bit embarrassed in front of a Doctor is always worth it.

It’s been an absolute pleasure coming to Duisburg and meeting academics from around the the continent.
Over due and TfWM and the WMCA need to learn lessons to ensure that this isn’t repeated in Dudley.
BUT
This forms a key part of creating seamless interchanges in Wolverhampton to national and local transit.
Seamless integration between Bus-Tram and Tram-Rail are now available.
Wolverhampton Council invested in our historic asset, and has brought a much-loved venue up to modern standards, attracting the very best in the industry.
Thousands more in the City Centre and a crucial reminder of our responsibility to invest in and celebrate arts and culture.
Starmer specifically mentioning automotive engineers in Wolverhampton in his speech is hugely important.
Wolverhampton deserves to be at the heart of technical education in this country, building on our strengths, and getting our industrial engine firing on all cylinders again.
Council Investment with the private sector bringing a quality family-run company cinema to our City Centre.
It is the responsibility of Councils to invest and ensure that citizens have access to the arts in the most accessible places.
🎞️ Exciting redevelopment of Wolverhampton’s city centre cinema within the historic and award-winning Grade II-listed Chubb Buildings set to start in coming weeks after preferred operator, PDJ Management Ltd, agreed Heads of Terms with council.

If I find one I’ll send it over but it was one of those things that kind of trundles between car parks and had bold plans for expansion that never met funding requirements
@KingmakerScribe
I know stock was built and sold but didn’t know that much detail.
Genuine tragedy. Demise of British Rail and the intransigence of the national leadership about on train border control sealed the deal!
Wolverhampton’s history was celebrated in a stunning light show this weekend.
My favourite parts to see celebrated were these:
Founded by Lady Wulfruna in 985.
UK’s first automatic traffic lights 1927.
Invention of the Newcomen Steam Engine 1712.
Seeing a local icon receive funding to expand their offer, and open a new city centre venue is absolutely amazing.
The Grand is one of the very best things about Wolverhampton, and their plans to bring another iconic venue back into life is fantastic.
BREAKING NEWS! 🎭 Wolverhampton Grand Theatre has received a grant from the Community Ownership Fund to implement Phase One of our City Centre expansion plans.

Fabulous to be invited to the reopening of
@BM_AG
where they were showing their Victorian Radicals.
Amazing to see this return to the West Midlands after a hugely successful North American tour.
It’s vital that Wolverhampton was chosen to host the biggest gathering of Mayors that this country has seen.
All of the Labour Regional Mayors in one place, bringing global cities like London and the vast East Midlands to Wolverhampton to discuss the future of our Country.
Great to welcome
@Keir_Starmer
,
@RachelReevesMP
,
@AngelaRayner
, and all Labour regional mayors, including new addition
@RichParkerLab
, to Wednesfield!🌹
With a strong message: A Labour government is committed to investing in cities and towns like Wolverhampton & Willenhall.🌹
Treated myself to my favourite British comfort dish, kedgeree.
Still recovering from the absolute high of getting medium boiled eggs the exact way I wanted them.
Queen’s Building catching the sun.
Bus Station testing its new tram stop.
New business on a prominent corner which has just made it past its first year.
Absolutely taken aback by both the unexpected feeder line and by quite how much I look like that man from the poster in the men’s toilets in a brewery in Walthamstow.
We’ve worked hard, we’ve spoke to so many residents, and we’ve delivered thousands of leaflets.
Thank you to the residents of Fallings Park who put their faith in Val and gave us a new majority and mandate to carry on working for you.
Scrapping T-Levels just 3 years after they were introduced is a ludicrously Ill-thought out policy.
What about the schools and colleges that started teaching them? What about the universities which built admissions criteria for them?
We need flesh on the bones of this policy.
Wolverhampton will be hosting the Kabaddi World Cup in March 2025c including the KnockOuts and the FINAL of a sport watched by hundreds of millions of people.
The eyes of the world will be on Wolverhampton as we host this major event in the home of British Kabaddi.
Wolverhampton has won the honour of hosting the knockout stages and final of the men’s and women’s Kabaddi World Cup in March 2025.

Incredibly fortunate to watch the

production of the
#WaltzingBlueGods

Moving, emotional, and an incredibly powerful insight into queer cultures.
The

Out supporting one of our youngest candidates in Wolverhampton, Ben Evans, and also
@RichParkerLab
for the Mayoral elections.
Great weather and some really good chats with people cutting the lawn and washing the car.
If you enjoyed Birmingham Pride, please come along and support your local pride too.
Tickets to

Local prides rely on you!
Thank you to the people who nominated me for this award, and the
@LGiU
for shortlisting me as a finalist.
In the last year, we’ve made huge changes for our Children and Young People:
- Schools now 89% GOOD or OUTSTANDING.
- Care Leavers now a protected characteristic.
I dream of the day the West Midlands gets a Mayor where “major announcements” are more than random AI generated images and vague promises of speculative future pedestrian bridges.
That day can be May 2nd.
A region of over 3 million people deserves so much more.
Arts and Culture are the beating heart of cities around the country.
Investing in a nation-leading standard of venue is ensuring Wolverhampton is at the centre of the map for music.
Seeing the nomination of this venue for a FOURTH award is an amazing vote of confidence.
👏 Council’s major Civic Halls transformation shortlisted for a further 3 honours in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) West Midlands awards. In the categories of community benefit, public sector, and refurbishment/revitalisation.

Back at it at the Council.
Lots of important items and questions today, with important issues being raised around Kids, Activities, and Support for Families.
Thus far, I’ve not been informed of a Wolverhampton School with RAAC concrete.
However, the Government has put our children at risk with their brutal education cuts.
We need a General Election, and we need it now.
If the Government refuses to lead, the Labour Party will.
I’m pleased to see a full planning application go in, and the final designs have clearly taken into account feedback from the public and businesses.
Wolverhampton needs a class food venue, just down the road from the Civic Halls to drive footfall.
I’m proud that Wolverhampton is the home of British Kabaddi, and that residents can benefit from FREE tickets.
Wolverhampton will also be hosting the Kabaddi World Cup, being the first city outside of Asia to hold this honour.
In Wolverhampton, we invest in our arts and sports.
The British Kabaddi League returns to WV Active Aldersley on 20 April- 21 April with 5 games scheduled to take place on both days.
FREE tickets can be claimed for either the morning or afternoon sessions, or for the whole day. To get tickets, visit:
Wolverhampton food should be given UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status.
Have you ever met someone from Wolverhampton who doesn’t immediately scream about orange chips?
@NeilEvansRocks
Incidentally I’ve done Wolverhampton-Mainz and Mainz-Wolverhampton twice and it’s a change in London, Brussels and Cologne that makes a really awkward journey.
The timings weren’t actually horrendous, and the price not dreadful considering the only local link is Lufthansa.
Love seeing finishing touches and attention to detail like this.
Beautiful carved stones with patterns celebrating the designs of our City inlaid into the seating.
Remember, what they’re doing to Local Government is a choice.
Whether that’s commissioners slashing arts funding by 100%, or punitively huge Tax rises.
They’re giving our money away, and then charging you even more for it through the back door claiming they’ve saved you cash.
From the DMs it’s come to my attention that people thought this was a tiny fish but we’re not in possession of the knowledge that I’m actually just an enormous person.
When I was looking after my Nan today, she asked for fish and chips.
The shop near her cooks everything to order, which is great.
However they passed me this searing hot package that I then had to walk home with in pain.
Thank you to everyone who made our City’s Remembrance events so solemn, and successful.
Despite the rain, hundreds of people turned out to see the military parade, and observe the minutes silence.
We were also joined in St Peter’s for a moving sermon on peace.

At the Wolverhampton City Centre Living Showcase, hearing plans for over 2000 homes in the City Centre.
City Centre living is the best way to charge forward our economy, and build the number of houses needed for our growing population as a city.
Nobody else seems to remember that random time in 2015 that Casualty did a Film Noir murder mystery episode without warning and then the next episode went back to normal as if the whole thing didn’t happen.
I always feel like it’s a fever dream and nobody believes me.
Winter is here so it’s time for me to make huge portions of Kaiserschmarrn and retreat to the sofa.
Is there anything better than a 23cm pancake, topped with icing sugar, some shaved dark chocolate, and some rum soaked raisins?
