On Writing: “I'm not in charge of whether or not my work is great, or how people will like it. I am only in charge of the process. I came here to be a writer and so I write.” - Elizabeth Gilbert

Be Writing. ~As authors, we can only write well and market them.
As authors, the outside world doesn't always see the struggle we all go through in our writing. They see the amazing words we put on paper and in our novels. But we know as authors the work it takes to keep writing.

Some mornings as an author you wake up and just don't want to write. It's good to write something to understand and train yourself how to write when you don't want to. Publishing deadlines won't wait for you. It's a hard truth, but a good trait to learn. -Wrtr

Knowing when is definitely an art form. Writing.
I feel as an author you should always feel your writing. It should have an emotional impact on you. Whether it's from tension or humor or romance or another, If you can feel it the likelihood your reader will feel it too is really huge. -Wrtr

As authors, we all feel a little bit different while writing. And that's ok. That difference is what makes us who we are as writers. And to your reader that's important.

Sometimes, as an author, my head is just so full of a story. The only way to fix that is to let it all out in the writing and then see what I have at the end.

I keep an orphaned words doc with extra scenes, sentences, thoughts and passages that don't quite fit. Then I reread and use them later, where they do fit.

Writing: The secret for writing a novel, for me, has always been to think of and write one chapter or one scene at a time, and then the next one after that. Finish that one chapter or scene and then the rest come easier.

Pretty cool if you think about it.
Writing well in the middle parts of a novel is a skill all authors should cultivate and covet. Save some surprises for the middle of the novel. Show your readers a little of who your characters are.

A first draft is to free your mind of the story to get the shape of it along with its imperfections. A second draft is for finding those imperfections and shaping them. A third draft is for fixing plot holes. And a fourth draft is for cleaning up what remains. -Wrtr
