This award highlights her achievements, influence, and long-term impact on the field, celebrating a career of sustained excellence and leadership in technology. Sasha Bezuhanova is a senior executive, angel investor, and philanthropist with over 20 years of experience in the tech industry. She held leadership roles at Hewlett-Packard (HP), where she contributed to positioning Bulgaria as a significant hub for ICT. In 2013, she transitioned from her corporate career to focus on supporting women’s entrepreneurship and sustainable business development in Bulgaria. She founded MOVE. BG, a think tank that provides research, support, and resources to entrepreneurs, particularly women, working on socially and environmentally responsible ventures. In 2020, Sasha joined the European Innovation Council’s investment committee, where she helps oversee a $2 billion investment program for European tech startups. Her efforts in fostering innovation, civic engagement, and collaboration have had a long-term impact on both the tech industry and social development in Europe. This initiative has had a measurable impact on gender-based violence statistics in Mauritius. She has also led the development of critical applications like the Sekirite Mobile Application for elderly support and a Personal Emergency Rapid Response Solution to enhance public safety. Her work in advancing e-government solutions in Mauritius includes initiatives such as the MAUPASS National Authentication Framework and the Electronic Queue Management System (EQMS), improving access to government services and administrative efficiency. This award recognizes a woman who excels in connecting technology with international relations. The recipient demonstrates exceptional skill in fostering global cooperation and partnerships in the tech sector. She has made notable contributions to addressing worldwide challenges through technology, enhancing digital collaboration, or advancing tech policies internationally. This individual embodies tech diplomacy, effectively navigating complex global issues to drive positive change through technological innovation. Audrey Plonk currently serves as one of the Deputy Directors of the Directorate for Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) at the OECD, where she oversees a wide range of digital policy areas. These include data governance, artificial intelligence, and online security, as well as connectivity infrastructure. Her work focuses on advancing evidence-based policy analysis and fostering international collaboration on digital transformation. From 2019 to 2023, Ms. Plonk was Head of STI’s Digital Economy Policy Division. She played a key role in leading two OECD committees and six working parties, notably organizing the 2022 Ministerial meeting and launching the Global Forum on Technology. She also contributed to the development of the OECD’s Declaration on Government Access to Personal Data Held by Private Sector Entities. Before joining the OECD, Ms. Plonk worked for more than a decade at Intel Corporation, where she led global teams in areas like AI, autonomous driving, and cybersecurity policy. She specialized in China cyber policy and advised Intel’s business units on their strategic approach in the region. Hicks is the President and CEO of Power Solutions, Inc. (PSI), a company she founded in 2000 that focuses on green technology and renewable energy. With a background in mathematics and computer science, Tonya became the first African American woman to earn the title of journeyman wireman in Mississippi's Local 917 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Under her leadership, PSI has developed expertise in renewable energy projects and smart city technology, contributing to sustainable practices in the electrical contracting industry. In 2022, Tonya founded shEV, a company that manufactures electric vehicle (EV) chargers with a focus on safer charging locations for women, the elderly, and disabled individuals. This initiative supports the broader adoption of EVs and promotes inclusivity in the transition to cleaner transportation. Tonya has been recognized for her work internationally, including features in Forbes Japan and The New York Times. She is a Sustainability Ambassador for the City of Atlanta and a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2022. This category focuses on measurable impacts, sustainable change, and initiatives that empower women and underrepresented groups in the tech industry. Marilia Silva leads the IT For Girls program at NTT DATA, Inc. Brazil, an initiative aimed at addressing the gender gap in the technology sector. Launched in response to the talent shortage and gender inequality in tech, the program aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on quality education, gender equality, and economic growth. The IT For Girls program provides free training and key tech certifications to women, helping them pursue careers in fields such as cybersecurity, software development, and cloud computing. The program features collective mentoring sessions led by female tech experts from NTT DATA, who volunteer their time to share knowledge and guide participants in navigating the tech industry. Participants also have access to free certifications from partners like Oracle, Cisco NET Acad, and Hackone. Since its inception, the program has seen substantial growth, with over 2,000 women registering in its first year (2022) and more than 3,800 in 2023. Across these editions, 250 certifications were offered, and over 1,000 women participated in each mentoring session. The program has successfully helped 20 former participants secure full-time junior roles or internships at NTT DATA. The program's success is attributed to strategic collaborations with vendors and NGOs, which have expanded its reach and impact. Marilia's leadership has been recognized globally, with IT For Girls receiving the NTT DATA AWARD and the Outstanding Achievement accolade at the 2023 NTT Group Sustainability Awards in Japan.
