Someone will have to one day explain to me why players obsess over years in a contract or hate the franchise tag. You are getting the AAV. If you outperform you can get another lucrative contract. If you underperform you still got paid in a big way. The rest is inconsequential
No team who has been in the Alex Bregman sweepstakes needs him as much as the Tigers. Signing him makes them better at two positions, including right field (Matt Vierling). That means four position upgrades this offseason, including first base and second base. Significant.
