The modern conservative mindset is that you should simply fire people rather than expand the economy. Instead of adjusting the taxes to the appropriate spot to stimulate the economy and generate more tax revenues, simply fire people. And then increase spending elsewhere.

I don't live vicariously through the activities of other people, and that goes three times over for politicians. If your sense of self relies on whether or not a politician gets their way, you shouldn't be voting. Or allowed out in public.

We are firmly at the point where if anyone on the left was to say that you should breathe air and get plenty of oxygen, the right would do everything they could not to.
