@Devon_OnEarth Are these people arguing we should also be routinely snitching on kids to their potentially unaccepting or abusive families if they say, are gay, have asked about birth control, are pregnant etc.

Really funny to have a celebrity put your country on stuff like it's a tequila brand he's started.
"In the new Deadpool 3 film, there is a cameo of 'Welshpool' who is the Welsh variant of Deadpool. Pretty cool that Ryan and Rob are trying their hardest to put Wales on the map!" #DeadpoolAndWolverine #Welshpool

"Some have tried to paint me as marginally less monstrous than the other candidates - Let me assure you, they are wrong.".
I hope in, in the next few days we’ll able to discuss how we get our economy growing again and enable our citizens to live well. Right now, I’d like to address another question that I’ve been asked:

The more we find out about this guy's absolute lack of philosophical and political depth, the more it feels like such a miracle that both Ex Machina and Annihilation were Good.
“If the left wants to combat right-wing extremism, it needs to be in the business of winning elections.” explains Alex Garland, writer and director of ‘Civil War’. New pod:

Nation's Most Powerful Police Force Considers Following Its Own Rules.
The Met Police is trialling a “new approach” to stop and search in which officers are trained to use “respectful language” and explain their actions, amid a crisis of public confidence. A pilot is running in parts of London worst affected by stabbings.

Something deeply distasteful about doing this at Gays The Word when your current party line is anti-strikes.
This week @Keir_Starmer visited @gaystheword to hear how you want the next Labour government to stand up for LGBT+ rights. 👇

Just sat here bleakly staring into space having heard a teenager speak eloquently and matter-of-factly about hiding in a room with her family "so that we die together". Any journalist that remains "neutral" on this isn't doing their job.
As Israel wages war on Palestine, I'm joined by Palestinian activists you desperately need to hear from in Gaza and Jerusalem >>

It's expected at this point, but still gutting, that the sentiment "We won't rest until Israelis and Palestinians can live together, from the river to the sea, in peaceful liberty" is considered so beyond the pale in UK discourse that people will demand you be sacked.

@Devon_OnEarth Had a quick look and it can't possibly be that they would deploy The Fog in the event of a shoplifter???

Mad how quickly this went from an austerity era catchphrase we all condemned Theresa May for saying to something parroted by multiple Labour politicians at every opportunity.
"There’s no magic money tree but there are choices we can make – and Labour would make incredibly different choices to what this government is making," Reeves says.

@thomas_violence (looking at a picture of a large ham and some dangling sausages being rolled down an aeroplane aisle) I was born in the wrong decade 💔.

Incredible to still try wheeling out that retro Benefit Scrounger sound when the average household energy bill has increased by around 90% since last year, food prices jumped by at least 10% this summer, and people now spend well over a third of their income on rent.
How many people claiming poverty have smart phones, takeaways, Sky tv & Netflix etc., cars, beauty treatments, smoke, drink?. There is no real poverty in the UK apart from homeless people. Poverty is relative. Many people have poor morals & trouble getting their priorities right.

@mlothianmclean I remember reporting on an incident under lockdown where a Welsh police officer issued a teenager with a covid fine and then took her number from the paperwork to hit on her. Unreal.

JK Rowling is a very powerful, wealthy woman, who has significant political and cultural influence. She's the president of a children's charity. Her views on these things have weight and consequence - it's not only acceptable but vital that she's pulled up on them!.
“Do you really think the way to win an argument for trans equality is to try and shut [J.K. Rowling] down?”. Shadow health secretary Wes Streeting says “there’s got to be a lot more empathy and understanding” on both sides of the trans debate.

Wild to me that it's environmental activists opposing this, given rail infrastructure is *the* key to cutting our heaviest emissions. Such a waste of organisational energy.
Environmental activists are planning a “national day of action” to protest against the expansion of the HS2 high-speed railway – as the Bill for the project is laid out in Parliament on Monday. ✍️: @AlanaCalvert & @NeilLancefield.

Funny because when I used to commute, I don't recall being paid for the hour's journey. I also remember being threatened with sacking at one job because I arrived at my start time, and not "ten minutes before to get settled.". Can't have it both ways!.
This minister is 100% right. If you want the continued benefit of working from home then don’t expect a salary that was designed for staffers commuting into the office.
