Spent some time toying with CoreML and Stable Diffusion this week. Getting sub 30s inference on a 4 years phone is darn impressive. Model size (2–4 Gb) is the only gotcha for this to be viable in production.

Played around with #StabledDiffusion 2.0 this weekend. It worked better for photorealistic prompts, but they went hard on artist and other peoples’ names. Specifying artistic styles barely worked in my tests. That’s not a bad thing as fine-tuning is the way to go forward anyway.

I have no urge to increase my daily exposure to social media (centralized or not), but I am excited to see more activity in and around the fediverse. More exposure means more people working to fix its shortcomings.

That feeling when you are coding or writing while listening to something in the background and that word you just typed is mentioned. Every time this happens I am more convinced we live in a simulation.

Speaking of Safari, I actually ended up restoring compact tabs since I prefer them over the old design. My only qualm with Safari during the beta was the adaptive toolbar color but that’s gone now.
