Wave Respawn's effect was so significant that we had ~4-5% fewer one-sided matches in Competitive at the beginning of Season 12 than we had at the end of Season 11, meaning that Wave Respawn makes a bigger difference than a Rank Reset.

The number of one-sided matches in Quick Play has seen another ~7-8% reduction in total rate since the data we showed in our last Director's Take. Just as before in Quick Play, this is affected by rank.

We noticed the queue times for wide trios were too high this season, so we've changed narrow groups to be a few divisions wider. This balanced the number of wide duos and trios and improved queue times. (1/3)

There's an explanation for this. Look at the objective progress. You were just so busy fighting the enemy team you didn't have time to capture the objective, that's tough. In a scenario where you're struggling this hard we draw the game to avoid stressing you out.

For context, we made a similar change back in Season 11 for wide duo queues. This improved queue times for 2 stacks because fewer of them were considered wide and it made the ratio of wide duos and wide trios more even. (2/3)

As the designer on Fire alongside Angelica's FX, the new OW2 engine required every UI element to be rebuilt. With a true scoreboard in OW2, our original reason for having Fire didn't exist (showing who was doing well). It's being advertised as new because it does new things!

It's a Kaiju miniatures combat game with the same energy as a WWE match. It's absurd in exactly the ways I want games to be, and it's deep enough mechanically that it can still be thought provoking when constructing new armies and making tough choices about how many dice to roll.
