On Feb 6th, off duty Captain Ed Powell attended the Durham RoadRunners game. When a staff member went VSA, Firefighter Powell performed CPR and used a defibrillator before emergency services arrived. The patient is expected to make a full recovery. Great job Captain Ed Powell!
WFES has received our new Tanker from Dependable Emergency Vehicles. Over the next month, we will be getting it ready to go in to service to enhance our rural water supply capabilities in the non-hydrant areas of Whitby. MM

WFES responded to a residential alarm and found a buried hydrant. Luckily it was a false alarm, if this was a confirmed fire, crews would have been delayed in finding the hydrant, trying to dig it out and hooking up. Make sure your hydrants are accessible and not covered in snow!
