Comics aren’t breaking my heart. An industry that’s more concerned about squeezing every bit of money and energy from the people that want to create things, from publishers to outright scammers, that’s what’s breaking my heart.
I am leaving this here for whoever needs it.

I almost exclusively self publish because, materially, I don’t see a difference between that and traditional publishing. I’m still expected to pay the team out of pocket, to market the book with little help, to forego royalties until printing is paid back.

Lifelong server here - tipping takes the responsibility of paying workers away from restaurants and into the hands of customers. It means we’re disposable to our employers and resented by our clientele, who often have no idea what is and is not our actual job.
