An amber alert remains active in search of endangered 16 year old Sophia Franklin. Alerts have extended beyond Wisconsin. The Missouri State Patrol last reported they had information the two may be in Missouri or cutting through Missouri to get to Arkansas. The suspect, Gary Day, now officially has a warrant out for his arrest in connection to this case. He is charged with two counts of child abduction and two counts of child enticement.

According to scanner audio, last night into early this morning was extremely chaotic across the county due to ice accumulation. Dozens of vehicle accidents occurred many of which with injuries and numerous people slipping on the ice requiring hospitalization. According to scanner audio, a City of Brookfield police officer was assisting victims of a vehicle accident when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that struck the officer bailed out of the car and ran away. He was taken into custody shortly after. The officer was transported to the hospital and their conditon is not known at this time. Road conditions are still not great this morning, especially on side streets, so use caution and take extra time when traveling.

Yes. It is very common. The Waukesha County Jail only has a jail nurse. The treatment/medical care the inmate needed could only be retrieved outside of the jail. All inmates are transported to doctors appointments outside of the jail by either one or two deputies for the duration of the appointment. The inmate had to be unshackled and unrestrained for his doctors appointment to be properly assessed and completed. The deputy remains in the room the entire time. The inmate punched the deputy as he was putting his restraints back on after the conclusion of his appointment to be taken back to the jail.

Officer on scene advising business appears normal, with people coming and going. Will be attempting contact with employees.

URGENT UPDATE: The suspect vehicle in question (2014 Black Buick LaCrosse) is also now known to use Pennsylvania plates KGW5186. The suspect is swapping plates on the vehicle.

AMBER ALERT: An amber alert has been activated for the State of Wisconsin originating out of Beaver Dam. Suspect is identified is Gary Day (40 years old) and believed to be operating a 2014 black Buick LaCrosse with Arkansas plates of BBR20L. The victim is identified as Sophia Franklin (16 years old) who is also 3 months pregnant. The father of the child is believed to be Gary Day. Sophia also has a no contact order against Gary, and he was last seen at her house this morning.

Fire department made contact, subject claiming he is fine and doesn’t need help. All units clearing.

@WisTexanFan9981 They were not already at the hospital. They were in a separate building owned by ProHealth for a doctors appointment, not in the hospital itself. Since they were not actually in the hospital, it is policy to still send an ambulance.

Command advising the fire is from normal operations. Correction on original call is that the caller was actually an employee from a neighboring business, not an employee of the wastewater plant.

Pursuit terminations are made for a variety of reasons, nobody wants anybody to "get away". The Waukesha County Sheriff was WELL out of their jurisdiction. Any other local agency including Milwaukee County Sheriff could pick up the pursuit and continue it but they did not. They also have the vehicle plate and registered owners information, it's not like they have no idea who this is.
