Waterford's Outpost Creations recently visited Walton Institute to explore our Digital Photogrammetry Lab and Botscan NEO 3D - a walk-in scanner that completes a scan in 0.01 seconds resulting in a fully realised 3D model! Wil from Outpost Creations originally met with Walton's Senior Project Manager & Mixed Reality Lab Lead Stephen Barnes at the Toys4Engineers event where they chatted about Waterford Libraries mascot, Ragnall - originally created by Outpost Creations - and the new RagnallAR mobile app funded by Creative Waterford and developed by the Extended Reality team in Walton Institute. 📰 Walton Institute's Muhammad Iftikhar Umrani, a PhD researcher in the Programmable Autonomous Systems division, presented his latest research under the UAVSec project at the IEEE Cyber Research Conference Ireland recently. Funded by the @Researchirel @connect_ie his work analysed the vulnerabilities in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and emphasised the need for advanced security systems. Iftikhar’s research paper titled ‘False Data Injection Attacks on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles used for Package Delivery’, supervised by Bernard Butler (@SETUIreland), Aisling O' Driscoll (@UCC), and Steven Davy (@WeAreTUDublin), examines cybersecurity threats faced by UAVs, especially those used in delivery services, focusing on GPS and LiDAR spoofing attacks that undermine their operational reliability.
