The reports that Taliban have banned women from midwifery training appear to be true. That they would prevent the safe delivery of their own children is inexplicable. The world cannot ever recognise such a regime; it is ridiculous to contemplate. #NoToTaliban.#FreeAfghanWomen.

Taliban aren’t only operating in Afghanistan. They beat women for not covering up sufficiently in the UK also and yet are not sent to prison. Misogyny is a global emergency.
Muhammed Hassan, 26, who violently attacked 3 women for not wearing traditional Asian dress while verbally abusing them as “slags” & “prostitutes”, has walked free from court. The court heard it described as “an outrageous public display of misogyny”.

For the women we support in Afghanistan, the interaction they have with their western friends is an invaluable source of comfort. It is also how they can get the truth of their suffering out there. This is another mindblowingly cruel edict. #NoToTaliban .@WomensRightsNet.
New Taliban law declares the voices & faces of women are 'forbidden' to men outside their immediate family. Muslim women are now forbidden to interact with non-Muslim women. These are insane human rights violations.Once again, the British press is silent.

Very true, and I’m sure the Taliban are furious at the amplification of those voices in Afghanistan calling for justified international action against them and an end to their persecution of women and girls. Keep sharing Afghan women’s thoughts and work.
“Taliban bans women from ‘hearing each other’s voices’”. The Telegraph calls this a ‘bizarre rule’, but a fundamental tactic of misogynist authoritarianism is to prevent communication between women. Otherwise they organise and resist.

Women/children live in hiding in fear of being murdered, no job/money/food/safety. How is it acceptable for rich students to wear and perform their suffering like this?. There are Afghan women who would give anything to attend their university. They want to learn, not play.

It *is* quite offensively inaccurate. We have heard reports that female babies with disabilities in Afghanistan are sometimes buried alive where male babies would be given medical treatment.
From the Amnesty website. It's just insulting to the women and girls of Afghanistan - and actually everywhere - to even hint at their oppression under the Taliban being due to 'identifying as a girl' rather than being born female. @amnesty

Don’t forget this. Taliban “culture” isn’t really about a strongly held belief that women shouldn’t be educated. It’s just about making them suffer.

This is how they will try to stop us raising Afghan women’s voices. They want to stop women and girls from telling the world what is happening to them. @SaarStories’ project is so important as it records their stories.
Reports indicate that the Taliban have banned women and girls from using smartphones in Kandahar province, plunging them into a painful and dark situation. This isolation limits their access to information and communication, exacerbating their already dire circumstances.
