Mac Stout and Sonny Sasso are both ranked in the top 11 in the nation. And are the clear cut 2 best in AAA and there’s not even a close 3rd. And they are on the same side of the bracket.

I’ve seen a lot of dominant performances in many sports at many different levels. But what the WPIAL has done in AAA at States is one of the most dominant I’ve seen. But I’m not surprised cause it’s every year

Each year, the weekend after Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic we should do a WPIAL vs District 11 dual. Rotate location each year at Pitt/Lehigh. Wrestle the AA first and AAA second. Any wrestler grade 9-12, doesnt have to be just seniors. This would sell and be great bragging rights

The WPIAL had 6 wrestlers who didn’t wrestle in the WPIAL finals(Kapusta, Houpt, Ferraro, Vielma, Morlacci, Volk-Klos) all beat a Regional champ in the R16. That’s called showing up to wrestle! Great performance by all of them!

Looking at National team rankings. Powerade had 6 of the top 15 schools in the nation. But gets me thinking, there’s nothing more satisfying than being an elite public school wrestling team.

What Beca and NDGP do isn’t impressive. And if you think it is then you’re clueless. Pull from all over the state and other states and flex your muscle on true public schools. Go wrestle Blair and Sem if thats how good you think you are. At least Beca chose to go AAA

One thing I noticed from Clarion Open. Slippery Rock needs to bring back wrestling. They had a handful of club kids wrestling unattached with no coach and no facility. And the kids were tough and scrappy. Bring this program back! Props to you guys!

At the end of the day, don’t end a match between two top kids in the nation like that. Evans didnt deserve to be booed(even though I think it was towards the ref) and Taylor didn’t deserve to lose like that. Sour ending to the best rivalry in the state. Both kids bright futures

It’s truly disgusting, a slap in the face, and a disservice to every single wrestler competing at states with the brackets that the PIAA just put out. Predetermined brackets are the worst thing in the sport of wrestling and it’s all laziness, lack of care, and lack of knowledge.

The WPIAL only getting 4 to Hershey in AAA is a joke. The WPIAL along with Northeast region dominate the state. Should each get 6 and 5 respectively. Breakdown should be as followed:

PIAA needs a Private/Catholic division for team states. Gives the AA and AAA teams a fair chance at a title. And it makes the sport better cause everyone would tune into a private/catholic team tournament. Keep individuals as it is now.

Shawn Taylor/Dylan Evans was the best rivalry in the state. We were fortunate to get to see them wrestle 5 times. It didn’t end how anyone wanted it to. Thanks and credit to both of them for putting it all on the line every matchup. Both are good kids. Best of luck to both!

I give Bishop McCort wrestling credit. They have elected to wrestle AAA next season given their lineup that consists of athletes from all over, and the high level these kids wrestle at. They can compete in AAA and are looking to test themselves even more. I respect this a lot.

Driving 50 mins for 5 matches is unacceptable. Teams that have 5 wrestlers should wrestle in two tri meets within their section. Traveling that far and making a whole team weigh in isn’t right. Have a tri meet and wrestle two section matches in one night. Would be much better

I said at the start of the year to watch out for Butler. They had a great dual season and just went toe to toe with TJ who just won their section. This Butler program is on the rise! And they are fun to watch.
