Despite the cancellation, we're still really busy today. 170 doggy bags that were destined for our volunteers had to go somewhere so we've just delivered them to
@whitechapelmiss
where they'll be put to good use
#wastenot
It's
#IWD2019
and we're celebrating the 2,560 oarswomen (and 320 coxes) who'll be competing at
#wehorr2019
next weekend! We're super thrilled to be international this year with crews from 🇬🇧🇨🇳🇮🇹🇩🇪🇸🇪🇨🇭🇱🇺 all

📢Weather Update - 9:00pm
RACE CANCELLED. The race tomorrow has been cancelled due to predicted wind conditions. We share everyone's disappointment. Please understand that this has not been an easy decision to make, but safety has to come first.
Ok so we're kind of a big deal for women's rowing... Challenge for everyone here: let's see if we can get
#wehorr2018
trending tomorrow. You'll all need to use the hashtag I your tweets if we're to do this!
📢 Attention all London clubs! Please go and collect your race packs as they contain a special present for your crews from us. Visiting clubs: we will arrange getting these to you!
Official notice: start (& boating) time tomorrow delayed by 45 minutes.
#wehorr2018
will now start at 10:30am. Officials' briefing times remain the same. Further announcements will follow.
We completely understand that some crews are gutted not to be now racing
#wehorr2020
We're gutted too. Please don't chase us for refunds though. We are still busy organising the race & won't be able to discuss this until our committee meeting next week.
Following the cancellation of their event due to a red PLA flag yesterday, we are pleased to announce that some
@wehorr
crews will be invited to join us at
#HORR2020
on Saturday 21 March

Happy
#IWD2018
everyone! We like to think that this race has always been part of the
#PressForProgress
and we plan to continue championing women's rowing with
#wehorr2018
and beyond. Big shout out to everyone who's racing and volunteering this weekend!
We are tickled pink (see what we did there?!) to congratulate and celebrate our former Chair, Olympic silver medallist Miriam Luke on receiving an MBE in the King's New Year’s Honours List.
We're aware the weather for the weekend is currently not looking great. We are monitoring the situation closely (as we do every year!) and will post updates closer to the weekend. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, stay safe if you're training on the water this week.
Help us reduce waste at
#wehorr2019
by bringing your own refillable cup with you - lots of hot drinks available for competitors & spectators along Putney Embankment & other boating locations ☕🍵♻️
What everyone has been waiting for:
Please check that your crews are listed with the correct Pennants & order (A,B,C etc). You have 72 hours to contact us to amend these. After that, the draw will be finalised and BROE will reopen for substitutions.
Guin Batten, chairwoman of
@WEHORR
knows a thing or two about wind - she's rowed the Atlantic in a force 11 - we spoke to her about the cancellation of the race & the burden of liability on a voluntary race committee.

Times are going up now for
#wehorr2018
on the live results page: We are aiming to take all the intermediates but smaller teams at those points mean we may miss a few. Priority is the Start and Finish points!
Entries HQ is definitely not accepting any more entries. The fact that BROE is now closed (and has been for several days) should be the clue here... 👀
#wehorr2023
Happy International Women's Day to everyone involved in
#wehorr2023
last weekend. We had crews competing from 🇬🇧(🏴🏴🏴)🇮🇪🇸🇪🇲🇫🇱🇺&🇩🇪
Let us know if there were any other nationalities competing!
#IWD2023
#InternationalWomensDay
#IWD23
And we shut at 8pm with 318 paid crews and 1 unpaid.
If you missed the deadline please don't ask to still be allowed in (& definitely don't get your mum to call up 👀) .Entries HQ now has a big job ahead compiling the draw.
Sneak peek of our new live results site:
Crew lists are included (will be updated on Saturday) so make sure you get those substitutions declared!
Feedback welcome!
The call was made at the point we felt the forecast was solid enough that it would be unsafe to run a full draw. We therefore wanted to let people know ASAP to save them from setting off for London unnecessarily
#cantpleaseeveryone
Weather update: We're closely monitoring the long range forecast and currently have no concerns about
#wehorr2018
taking place as planned. We will be updating as and when anything changes.
Provisional draw for
#wehorr2019
now live: Please check your crews are in the correct order (A,B,C) and pennants are correct. You have until noon on Monday to let us know errors.
Announcement 📢 if your crew missed out please do not contact Entries HQ about it - she's busy enough. We can't operate a waiting list (and we had 320 submitted & paid by the deadline).
It's a difficult job organising a head race, and I really feel for the team at
@WEHORR
. Tomorrow is going to be quite breezy through the middle of the day, but it's an easterly, so that means the Hammersmith>Putney stretch is likely to be particularly choppy and challenging (1/3)
Delighted to announce that I will be the Official Photographer for the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race (WEHoRR) again this year.

@WEHORR
📢Weather Update - now delayed until 10pm this evening (Friday).
Apologies for the delay, we hope you can understand that these are tricky decisions and we want to make the right call.
There was a flurry of entries and payments being made right up to our entry deadline and some 15 crews were unlucky and didn't make it. Unfortunately it's first paid, first in. Please don't hassle our Entries HQ if you missed out, she is working hard on the draw at the moment 1/2
The race wouldn't be able to happen without our army of volunteers. Make sure you listen to them - they're there to keep you safe and help you have a good day out! 👌
Happy
#IWD2022
to everyone involved in
#wehorr2022
this Saturday.
2,400 rowers, 300 coxes, countless volunteers making it all happen both before and on the day!
Happy
#InternationalVolunteerDay
everyone.
#wehorr2018
wouldn't be able to run if it wasn't for all those working hard behind the scenes through the year AND all those who assist on the day itself!
