Sleet, freezing drizzle, and snow are likely to begin across far northern MS this afternoon and last into the evening hours. The expected freezing rain/sleet mix will likely hold off until Monday late afternoon for the Golden Triangle.
#mswx
A wintry mix is expected early Thursday evening. With temperatures forecast to hit the middle 50s, rain will be the first to follow the front. There is a chance for some winter precipitation, like sleet or flurries. Do not expect anything to stick. Black ice is the main hazard.
TONIGHT: keep and eye out for black ice, especially on bridges, overpasses, and in those traditional shady spots where still may be slush. These areas will be most vulnerable to a re-freeze with temperatures dropping into the 20s.
Severe threat INCREASED for Thursday - a level 3 risk now encompasses the entire WCBI coverage area. Damaging winds and a tornado threat are the primary hazards.
