This is not a April Fools joke. Homicides are down by -31% in Washington State so far this year when compared to April 1st 2023. Seattle down by -22%, Tacoma down by -50% and Spokane down by -55%. We're seeing lower homicide totals in about every County so far this year.

What a wild week. A car prowl turns into murder at Southcenter mall. A man is found shot dead in a million dollar Bellevue neighborhood. Another man found shot dead in rural Yakima County, a shootout/car jacking on I-5 near Olympia. Tacoma adds another body to their record total.

Tacoma has seen a 51% drop in homicides since their record high year of 43 in 2022. They had 33 in 2023 and only 21 in 2024. Way to go Tacoma!.

And just like that Washington has more than doubled their homicide total in one week. Started off with a double homicide at a Seattle homeless camp, 2 more homicides in Tacoma, DV killing near Wenatchee, murder/suicide in Spokane and a victim of a hammer attack in DT Seattle died.

In 2022 Washington State averaged 31.5 murders per month, 1.03 per day. The worst month was August with 46 and the best month was December with 19. January 2022 had 29 homicides and February 2022 had 34. We are right on pace with last year. Doesn't seem to be slowing down.

YAKIMA MURDER SUSPECT: Police say this man shot and killed 3 people inside a Circle K market this morning in East Yakima, then carjacked/shot a 4th person outside the store. That shooting victim is unaccounted for. Last seen in a grey/silver Chrysler on Highway 24 towards Moxee.

Well the past 7 days was our worst so far in this New Year. Ten new homicides added to the total. The triple homicide in Yakima started the week off. Seven jurisdictions logged their 1st homicide of the year. Seattle logged their 6th killing.

Summer is heating up, Washington State is logging a homicide about every 16 hours now. Last years average was one per 22.8 hours. There has been 9 homicides in the past six days. We also have about a dozen more homicides this year than we did at the same time in 2022.

For the fifth straight year Washington State will finish with 300+ homicides. With that being said, homicides are down by about 18-19% this year compared to 2023. Previous totals are 376 in 2023. 399 in 2022. 325 in 2021. 302 in 2020 and 201 in 2019.

It's pretty rare for two suspects to open fire on each other and both kill each other, its even more rare for it to happen twice in one day. Pierce County Sheriff and Everett Police both investigate double homicides.

Just over a hour ago there was reports of a shooting inside Macy’s at the Valley Mall in Union Gap. Reports a loss prevention officer was shot trying to stop a thief. Limited details beyond that have been released so far. Will update if I hear more.

I'm getting multiple messages on this Toppenish shooting, and there are unconfirmed reports this might have been a internal dispute involving a Sureno gang in Toppenish where one member killed other members. I'll keep updating as I get more info.

Washington's homicide total is up by +10.2% so far this year vs. 2022. Last year we hit homicide #172 on June 21st. Seattle's homicides are UP +57% and Tacoma's are down -30%. Whatever Tacoma is doing, its working. Currently Tacoma is 29 days w/o a homicide.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., Patrol units responded to the area of 2700 6th Avenue for a shooting inside a business with multiple victims. One of the victims has succumbed to their wounds. This incident is being investigated as a homicide. Please use alternate routes.

Another busy week for homicides since last week. Triple homicide in a Kitsap Co. rehab home. In Seattle a business owner defended himself, shooting and killing a robber at a Ballard smoke shop. Unfortunately we had our youngest victim of the year, a 4-month old was killed by 1/3.
